Excerpt:

hen Jim’s arms were around his neck, and Jim pulled him into a deep kiss. Mark surrendered to the kiss, careful because he could still feel the remnants of the fever in Jim’s hot lips and slightly uncoordinated movements.

He laid Jim back on the swag, kissing him so softly that Jim whispered, “I’m not going to break, you know.”

“I know.” Mark carefully removed Jim’s shirt and pants, then stripped him completely, kissing him all the while.

He stopped for a moment to undress himself, spared the horses and the cave entrance a glance, and then returned to kissing Jim. Dan wouldn’t be back for hours.

Silently he pressed kisses down Jim’s broad chest, nibbling gently at the hard nubs of his nipples, feeling with gratitude the chest below rise in a gasp as he did so. Mark tasted the taut stomach, slightly salty with sweat, and heard a moan of pleasure from Jim. He smiled and licked again, a gentle dab of the tongue, and got the same response. He listened to the contented moans from above and kept giving tiny licks and nips down Jim’s stomach, which was now rolling under him and pushing up into the pressure, until Jim’s erection bumped Mark’s chin. Mark lifted his head slightly and carefully took the taut glans into his mouth, tasting more salt—there was fluid leaking from the tip.

“Oh, Mark,” moaned Jim, his voice throaty and deep.

Mark smiled and worked the glans in his mouth, running his lips and tongue around in circles until Jim was pressing rhythmically up against him, pushing for more contact. Mark let his mouth open a fraction more to allow Jim’s erection to slide gradually farther into his mouth and heard Jim groan, “Oh-oh.” He looked up to see Jim’s chest heaving and blue eyes looking down to him, hooded with desire. The taste of salt increased, and
Jim became rock hard in his mouth.

Mark wet his fingers with spit and precum and teased them around the outside of Jim’s entrance, wetting it thoroughly before slipping a finger in, then another and another. Jim’s moans became more desperate. Mark pushed his fingers in and out, circling them, then plunging them in and out of Jim’s body again and again until Jim’s moans gained a pleading tone. Then he extracted his fingers and shifted upward to let his own leaking erection press against Jim’s hole.

Jim grabbed Mark’s hair and pulled him up to kiss him frantically, his breath coming in rough gasps in Mark’s ear. Mark teased him, nibbling and ghosting kisses across his neck until Jim begged, “Take me!” and claimed his mouth in a bruising kiss. Mark lined himself up and watched Jim’s face for any sign of a wince as he pressed into Jim slowly, his own erection so hard now that he didn’t have to guide himself in. The hot walls of Jim’s channel closed around him, and he heard himself give a guttural groan as he pressed slowly into the warmth and pressure of Jim’s body.

Jim closed his eyes and whispered, “I’m gonna shoot my load any second.”

Mark whispered back, “Open your eyes, then.”

Jim did, and the desire and pleasure in them was enough to make Mark growl again, grab Jim’s shoulders, and thrust hard and deep into him. Jim’s neck arched back, and he gasped. Mark wanted to sink his teeth into that exposed neck and thrust again and again, but he resisted and stilled, then pulled himself out very slowly.

“Jesus, Mark....” Jim’s voice was shattered as Mark began to push in again slowly.

Mark hesitated, then continued, watching the pleasure contort Jim’s face as he did. Jim’s teeth were gritted as Mark pushed himself fully home, and Jim whispered, “You’re killing me.”

Mark nibbled on his ear and breathed, “I almost lost you this morning.” He bucked his hips once, hard, and Jim gave a small noise.

Mark began to withdraw again with agonizing slowness, then heard a strangled whisper from Jim. “I can’t—”

Mark smiled and thrust himself in again, slowly but powerfully, pushing himself in until he was fully seated, then giving that slight buck inward that he knew Jim loved so much. Suddenly he heard Jim gasp and felt hot moisture between them and Jim convulse against him. He held Jim through his climax, watching the handsome face tighten and tip away from him as Jim arched up against him. He pressed quick, hot kisses up the corded tendons in Jim’s neck and whispered hotly in his ear, “I love you.”

“God,” managed Jim at last. “God.”

Mark kissed him and waited for Jim to meet his eyes again, then began to pump into him, still slowly, but putting all the power he could muster into his thrusts. Jim watched his face as he did so, and something in his look undermined Mark’s control so he began to thrust rapidly and deeply into Jim. Mark groaned his pleasure with each movement he made and was not sure when the groans became low growls.

Pleasure began to build in him, each push into Jim’s now slick, tight channel sending a thrill through his whole body. He struggled to keep control, but despite his best effortswas soon rutting into Jim’s body with abandon. When his climax came, it was intense, tightening his whole body and leaving him shaken.

Afterward he lay beside Jim, grateful to still be able to breathe in his familiar scent. If Jim had died.... Mark closed his eyes and pushed his face even closer to Jim.
Jim rolled over to face him and pulled him into a close embrace, the strong, bronzed arms holding Mark tightly against him. Mark closed his eyes and tried to breathe.

Jim’s voice broke through the silence. “What do you feel?”

Mark looked up into his eyes. “What?”

“When we do that, what do you feel?”

Mark hesitated. “You. Inside you. The heat.”

“Is it like a woman?”

Mark hesitated for even longer, then whispered, “I wouldn’t know.”

They lay in silence for a few moments, then Mark asked, “What do you feel?”

There was a long silence, then Jim said, “You. Like you’re part of me. Like you come into my body, and we’re one person. And every time we do it, I want more.”

Mark looked away, then couldn’t resist looking back, and saw Jim’s eyes gleaming at him. He asked, “Would you go back to a woman? Do you want children again?”

Jim stared off into the distance. “I don’t think so. Haven’t thought about it. Have you?”

Mark nodded. “I bet you were a good father.”

Jim’s eyes suddenly turned ice blue, and he turned to Mark and answered, “If I had been, they’d still be alive, wouldn’t they?”

Mark blinked, unsure what to say, and looked away.

Every devil has a beginning...
From the outset of young Lord DeVere's arrival at Westminster School, his scandalous family secrets set him apart from the other aristocratic scions as an "untouchable." Akin to a dark shadow following him, the ugly truth remained that his mother was indeed the biggest whore in England, and his presumed father was no less than a pox-ridden madman.

Likewise, Simon Singleton's poetic proclivities had instantly made him the bullies' mark, and even Edward Chambers' great size had served as little deterrent for the upper classmen's taunts when accompanied by adolescent awkwardness and a broad North Country drawl.

By the end of the first form, however, the three young outcasts had forged an iron-clad bond that would maintain them through nearly six years. DeVere's finely honed shell of arrogance, Ned's increasing brawn, and Sin's rapier wit gave birth to an unholy triumvirate that would come to wreak perpetual and unchallenged havoc upon Westminster School…

My review:
The Devil DeVere Series by Victoria Vane is one of the best series I've ever read. The characters are fantastic, and very well written. Devil in the Making explores the early years of Simon Singleton, Ludovic DeVere, and Ned Chambers and their exploits at Westminster School. Lord DeVere is already on the bad list due to the notoriety of his family, Simon and Ned are victims of upper classmen bullies. The three soon become inseparable friends.
Ludovic attracts trouble without really trying. Wanting to pull a prank on one of the teachers, Ludovic talks Ned and Simon into stealing a lion and bringing it back to the dorm. Unfortunately, the lion has a keeper and the trio is caught in the act. Intrigued by the lion keeper, Ludovic makes a startling revelation.

Even though Devil in the Making is a short story, it is rich with detail and dialog. I always laugh out loud when reading one of Ms. Vane's Devil DeVere books. The humor and wit are priceless. The detail in the writing shows Ms. Vane has done extensive research. This story is just the right length for a quick and fun read. I would recommend Devil in the Making to anyone who likes to be entertained by a great story.

Growing up in the same tough New York neighborhood, Frankie Monetti and Gent Vitali learned the ropes of gang politics. Sal Sebastiani, mob boss likes what he sees in Frankie and personally takes him under his wing and teaches Frankie all he knows.

Sal sends Frankie to California, and keeps Gent for his hit man. After five years, Sal believes Frankie isn't sending back the correct payments.

Frankie is a mob boss in Hollywood, he controls the studios and unions, which makes him and the syndicate a lot of money.

Gent is sent to Hollywood to bring Frankie back to New York and Sal. It's not a good thing, and Frankie's chances of coming out of his meeting with Sal alive is zero. But will Gent be able to bring Frankie in or will his past feelings for his childhood friend get in the way?

As soon as I started reading Tarnished Souls Frankie and Gent by Brita Addams, I thought I was back in the 1930's. Ms. Addams always does her research and it really shows in this story. The story is very well written and the dialog between the characters comes off as very authentic. It took me a page or two to get used to all the mobster 'talk', and then, I couldn't get enough. It's this genuine feel to Tarnished Souls Frankie and Gent that kept me turning the pages.

Frankie's character is very likable, he's opportunistic and charming and wants to make something of himself. He's also very smart, good looking, a smooth talker and very loyal. Gent's character is a little harder to figure out. He seems a man of few words and all muscle, one who acts first without thinking about the outcome. But I think Gent was a little more complicated. I liked both Frankie and Gent and wondered how they were going to get out of their mess.

Tarnished Souls Frankie and Gent is an incredible read that has a few surprises and will keep the reader intrigued until the last page. Ms. Addams has penned another great book and I can't wait to read the next installment of this series.

Book video

Excerpt:
"Is it the marriage you resent or my handling of the affair?" He
stroked his hand over her bare buttock, back and forth, his touch
so gentle she might have missed it if she hadn't been so terribly
aware of him. "Or perhaps it's merely me you can't stand."
Yesterday had he asked her that, she would have had no
qualms answering all three questions, but now how could he be
part of the problem when he created a magic unlike any other
she'd ever known? When he stilled his hand on her backside,
she whimpered.
"Answer the question please." Though he kept his voice conversational and at a whisper, there was no mistaking the note
of command.
"Your handling." She licked her dry lips. "I am not chattel, Captain.
I'm a woman who demands your attention the same as any man
under your command, but since I am a woman, my wants and needs
will always fall by the wayside when a man is in the mix." Would
he despise her free speaking, regret that he'd offered for her in
the first place?
"I'm beginning to see I made a mistake."
"In choosing me?" She hated that her voice sounded small and out
of place in the darkness.
"No, in not asking for you sooner. I should have planned better so we had more time before I departed. He glided his hand along her
side to fondle her nipples once more. "I don't want our union to
be a farce, but you must promise me to curtail deporting yourself
in a manner that shows both of us in an unfair light."
The wonderful tension he created in her body faded under the
safe wave of annoyance. She pulled his hand away from her person.
"You cannot expect me to follow your orders as if I'm one of your crew. A marriage is more than that."
"Actually, it isn't. A marriage and being part of a sailing crew are
very much the same. They all come down to one thing--trust.
Caleb escaped her grasp. He inched his hand down the from of her
body. "Just as I demand trust from my crew, I ask it of you as well."
The moment his fingers danced over her feminine curls, Abigail gasped. No one had ever touched her there, but the man who was
her husband dared to go even farther. With a gentleness that belied
the man she assumed he was, he nudged her thighs apart. She let
him. Dear heavens, how could she deny him?  The curiosity became
too much.
He slid a finger along her folds.
"Oh my." I had no idea a man's fingers on me like that could feel.... There were simply no words for the way sensation surrounded her in a cocoon of wonderment.
"I want you to trust me, Abigail." His voice reverberated in her ear
and her chest. Strain rasped in his words as he left off his torment and rested his hand on her stomach. The hard bulge of his arousal pressed insistently against the small of her back. Obviously, that
tiny moment had affected him as well. "You and I are bound in the
eyes of the law, but I want more than a cold decree. I want to share
with you the joy that can happen between a man and a woman."
