THE DEVIL DEVERE SERIES LITERARY AWARDS AND ACCOLADES

EDITORIAL QUOTES

"The “Devil DeVere” series is a variation on the rake’s progress, or the rake’s reformation, except that is doesn’t start with said rake as the main character—a device that is amazingly clever on Vane’s part and allows her to circle in on DeVere without revealing too much at the outset… The series is erotic and sexy, and sometimes you want to shake the characters until their teeth rattle, but it is absolutely marvelous... This one should be read with bonbons. And a fan!" --Marlene Harris for Library Journal

SERIES AWARDS AND NOMINATIONS

This is one of the best ongoing series that I have read. I've loved them all and encourage everyone to check them out.

With the Devil in Charge ... there could be Hell to Pay!
She needs a protector...
Once seduced by whispered promises of a faithless lover, Phoebe Scott is determined to make a name on the Covent Garden stage, but after three years of bit parts, she realizes she'll never achieve her goals on her own merits. Acknowledging her success is dependent on a powerful patron, Phoebe is now resolved to find a protector to secure her future. With this goal in mind, she seeks out the best prospects at London's most notorious brothel.
He's avowed to celibacy...
Sir Edward "Ned" Chambers has been lost and lonely since his wife's death in childbirth. Burdened with blame, he has sworn to a life of celibacy, but after three years, he is inwardly edgy, irritable, and increasingly discontent. Perceiving the cause behind Ned's unhappiness, as well as the obvious cure, his best friend and rake of the first order, "The Devil" DeVere, is hell-bent to return Ned to the land of the living. DeVere's machinations result in an outrageous wager that could lead Ned to a new love... or land them all in the Tower!

All bets are off in in this racy Georgian romp! (romantic comedy with mature content)

All's Fair in Love and Abduction

In the second installment of the award-winning Devil DeVere series, Ned's daughter Vesta is preparing for her come-out only to have her world turned upside down when her father returns from London with a bride of his own! Put out that he is so wrapped up in Phoebe, Vesta accompanies her godmother, Diana, to town where she meets and falls instantly in love with the gallant Captain Hewett DeVere.

"Hew" DeVere, younger brother to Viscount Ludovic "The Devil" DeVere, has returned from the war with plans of selling his commission and settling down. He quickly becomes enamored of the older but beautiful Diana, and barely notices eighteen-year-old Vesta. When Hew fails to respond to her feminine charms, Vesta takes extreme measures to capture the object of her desire, but Hew didn't survive the worst of the war only to succumb to Vesta's wayward wiles.

"You conniving creature! How can you possibly think I could ever love such a spoiled, petulant, self-absorbed, and scheming little wretch?"
Proving the adage that opposites attract, this hilarious romp pits the would-be huntress against the gallant hero in an epic war of wills. (Romantic comedy with mature content)

(This book is the third in a connected series but can be read first)
Sometimes the Devil is Disguised as a Gentleman...

In this third installment of the award-winning Devil Devere series, DeVere is finally center stage when Ned, Annalee, and her cousin, Diana arrive at DeVere's estate for a weekend of horseracing. From the first meeting, DeVere makes his interest in Diana acutely known. Although she sees no harm in a light flirtation, she doesn't intend to become another notch on his bedpost. Nevertheless, DeVere fascinates her.

Although DeVere is outwardly arrogant, ruthless, unpredictable and manipulative, the private man is quite another creature--intensely loyal and fiercely protective of those few he cares about.  Diana also maintains a false front to the world. Her twelve year marriage is a mockery and she feels unfulfilled and undesireable which makes her all too vulnerable to Devere's dangerous charm. After events take an unexpected turn, Diana's most erotic fantasies become reality when she seeks comfort and affirmation in the devil's arms. But little does she know that the fire he ignites within her will burn long after she leaves Woodcote Park.

The Devil is the True Tempter of Women

In this fourth installment of the award-winning Devil DeVere series, Diana has come to London as her goddaughter's chaperone. Wanting to avoid her erstwhile lover at all costs, she nevertheless has no choice but to appeal to DeVere for help when Vesta mysteriously disappears. Although once nearly consumed by her passion for DeVere, four years has reduced the former inferno to bitterness and ashes.

Ludovic's time abroad has only served to deepen his debauchery. He's become jaded, world-weary, and bored. He also recognizes with self-annoyance that the marks of his discontent have only increased upon a certain person's arrival in London. When Diana makes her appearance in his den of iniquity in all of her glorious self-righteous fury, he suddenly feels alive again.

While DeVere is once more hell-bent to have Diana back in his bed, she will do whatever it takes to bring him to his knees. (Mature Content Warning)

Every devil has a beginning...
From the outset of young Lord DeVere's arrival at Westminster School, his scandalous family secrets set him apart from the other aristocratic scions as an "untouchable." Akin to a dark shadow following him, the ugly truth remained that his mother was indeed the biggest whore in England, and his presumed father was no less than a pox-ridden madman.

Likewise, Simon Singleton's poetic proclivities had instantly made him the bullies' mark, and even Edward Chambers' great size had served as little deterrent for the upper classmen's taunts when accompanied by adolescent awkwardness and a broad North Country drawl.

By the end of the first form, however, the three young outcasts had forged an iron-clad bond that would maintain them through nearly six years. DeVere's finely honed shell of arrogance, Ned's increasing brawn, and Sin's rapier wit gave birth to an unholy triumvirate that would come to wreak perpetual and unchallenged havoc upon Westminster School…

**Special Note:

The Trouble with Sin (Devilish Vignette #2) is a comic romp that follows on the heels of Devil in the Making. It is also a prequel to Jewel of the East ( book #5 in the Devil Devere series)

The Trouble with Sin … Is the devil within…
Aspiring poet Simon "Sin" Singleton, has lived his life only for larks, laughter, and ladies of easy virtue, eluding defying, and flouting all manner of authority until his impetuous misdeeds finally catch up with him. Having lost his muse, his allowance, and even his friends by edict from a tyrannical father and puritanical mother, Simon is ready to drown himself in drink, until receiving an ingenious proposition that could change everything.

The wages of Sin is…...twenty-five percent of the net!
It seems a fantasy come true when Simon is offered an independent income by combining his two great passions— poetry and lewd women —by writing poetry about lewd women! Unfortunately, maintaining anonymity may be much harder than he thought…

**Special Note
This short erotic installment in the award-winning Devil DeVere series can stand alone as a complete story, but also serves to bridge The Devil's Match and Jewel of the East (Salime and Simon's story).

In her last month of pregnancy, Diana, Viscountess DeVere, has barely settled into her new life and role as "the devil" DeVere's wife, when her increasingly restless husband receives an urgent summons to London. When Diana inadvertently discovers a message he received from a known courtesan with whom he was formerly linked, she fears her marriage is over before it has begun.
They were barely three months into a marriage that had begun on rather shaky ground. Was it possible that for him, the novelty of it had already worn off? This had always been Diana's greatest fear, for Ludovic was a man with a voracious sensual appetite, one he had honed with years of endless variety and constant, unrestrained indulgence. Diana, on the contrary, had known only one true lover--this same perplexing man who was now her husband--the one who had made her heavy with his child...and now left her alone in a cold bed.

Lady Diana Palmerston-Wriothesley has been very unhappy in her marriage of convenience to Lord Reginald. Her husband gets more distant and the trips to her bed are becoming less frequent as time goes by. She's stuck in a loveless, childless marriage and so she has to make the best of it. She also has to live with his gambling problems.
Ludovic, or The Devil DeVere as he is widely known, is used to getting what he wants. He has his own set of rules and code and decides that Diana will be quite the challenge.
While visiting the Viscount DeVere with her friends, Annalee and Edward Chambers, for the horse races, Diana discovers a terrible secret about her husband. While seeking comfort and help from Ludovic, Diana also learns that her husband's gambling debts have put them in financial ruin.
Will one night of flaming passion in the bed of the Devil be enough?

What can I say but that I'm in love with the Devil DeVere? Victoria Vane has written another fantastic book in The Devil DeVere series, The Devil You Know. There is a reason why Ludovic is a love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy, and it's revealed in this book. He's rich, daring, handsome, and knows how to please the ladies. Ludovic lives for the thrill of a challenge. Diana's life hasn't been easy, and now I know a little more about why she's been so very stoic. I do admire Diana for trying to figure out a way for her to be happy. Ms. Vane writes will a lot of passion and flair, her characters are well written, and sometimes mysterious. There is also a lot of humor instilled in some of the situations that made me laugh out loud. The Devil You Know contains a lot of twists and turns and is a roller coaster ride that kept me turning the pages. The sex scenes are steamy, passionate and very descriptive. I wasn't ready for the book to end where it did, that was a surprise. I highly recommend this book to anyone, especially if you like a great historical story. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, The Devil's Match.

Baroness Diana Palmerston-Wriothesley wants nothing more than to enjoy her visit to London. Acting as her goddaughter's chaperone, the last thing she intends is to come face to face with Viscount Ludovic " The Devil" DeVere. It's been four years since their night of heated passion, and since the Viscount fled London leaving Diana and her feelings of abandonment to grow into hatred.
Viscount Ludovic DeVere newly arrived from traveling abroad has found a few new vices to add to his collection, but nothing seems to help him forget the night Diana came to his bed. When his old friend Sir Edward Chambers informs him that his daughter, Vesta and Diana will be in London for Vesta's come out.
Vesta suddenly disappears and Diana is forced to go to the Viscount for help. Neither can deny the feelings and passion that is still there when they meet each other.
Ludovic, again wants Diana for his own, but Diana is determined to stay out of his bed because this time Diana is not sure she would survive if he should leave her again.

I am really loving The Devil DeVere series by Victoria Vane. The Devil's Match is one wild roller coaster ride of passion, emotions, and debauchery with some unexpected twists and turns thrown in. The sparks fly when Diana confronts Ludovic in his home during a sex fest. Oh to have been a fly on the wall during that visit. I so enjoyed the banter between Ludovic and Diana, I felt like I was in the room listening and observing everything. Ms. Vane has the ability to infuse her books with such realism, and her characters are so well written with depth and feeling. Her world building is excellent and captures the reader on page one and hangs on long after the last page. I felt great compassion for Ludovic as he revealed a deep dark secret to Diana. I just wanted to be able to comfort him. Diana is much stronger than she gives herself credit for, surviving her dead husband's secret and abuse. Plus she put's her wants and needs aside for others, I'm not sure I could do that. I admire Diana very much. The secondary characters, which are mostly from other books in the series help round out the story and make it so enjoyable. The sex scenes are vivid, passionate, and scorching hot. I really recommend The Devil's Match to anyone who likes a good about enemies to lovers stories, this is one of the best!

Lady Vesta Chambers is just a little more than upset with her father. He was supposed to be finding them a house in London for her coming out, and instead he falls in love and gets married. Vesta always thought that her father would eventually marry her godmother, Diana.
Diana kind of had hopes of the same, now that marrying Ned is out of the question, Diana volunteers to take Vesta to London herself. Ned agrees to the two women being on their own only if they promise to contact Viscount Ludovic DeVere if they are in need of anything. Diana isn't fond of Mr. DeVere, but agrees to Ned's terms never intending to calling on him.
Once in London, the two women are enjoying themselves immensely. Vesta has always done as she pleases and insists on taking her early morning rides while in town. It is during one of these rides that she sees the man of her dreams. The Seventeenth Light Dragoons are riding by and Vesta is immediately taken by the man leading them.
Captain Hewett DeVere, is the younger brother and heir to Viscount DeVere, the Devil DeVere. He has returned home from the war in America, scarred and more than ready to settle down and start a family. Hew is quickly drawn to Diana and doesn't seem to notice Vesta. Used to getting what she wants, Vesta schemes to make Hew notice she is a woman and not a little girl.

I really enjoyed reading The Virgin Huntress by Victoria Vane. The book is fantastic, the characters quickly find their way into your heart. They are very well written and have so much depth and dimension. The world building is great, I thought I was back in Regency England. Ms. Vane pens another great story full of sensual romance, a lot of wit and fun, and a few shenanigans. Vesta is a spoiled brat that is so used to getting what she wants that she's actually shocked that Hew isn't interested in her for a wife. I will say that Vesta is very determined and very creative in her quest of getting Hew to love her. It's easy not to like her because she is so spoiled, but as the story progressed, I found myself liking her more and more. I enjoyed seeing Vesta grow into a sensuous woman. Hewett is always a gentleman first and foremost, and I liked him immediately. I had to chuckle out loud during some of Vesta's wilder plans and how they played out. If you like stories that are entertaining, has great detail with some humor, The Devil DeVere series is just right. I recommend reading this series in order. I'll be reading The Devil You Know soon.
