Kristine Cayne Everything Bared Blog Tour

Today, Kristine Cayne is here for her Everything Bared Blog Tour. Welcome Kristine!

Julianne, thank you for having me on For Whom The Book Tolls today. I’m thrilled to let you know that CNN has interviewed Dani Harris, the heroine of Everything Bared (Six-Alarm Sexy, Book Two). I hope you and your readers will enjoy this peek into Dani’s life.

This is Allison Carter with CNN, reporting from Crowley, Texas, where a series of tornadoes have devastated the area. Whole towns have been razed, and the death toll stands at 60 so far, with dozens of people missing. I’m here with Danielle Harris, a canine search-and-rescue handler from Seattle and her dog, Coco.

AC: Ms. Harris, a few weeks ago, you and Coco helped rescue a mother and daughter from a partial building collapse in the recent earthquake in Seattle. That rescue was particularly poignant for you, because it involved family members of your firefighting colleagues. How does that experience compare to what you’re facing here?
DH: While each mission has its challenges and each life we save is sacred, rescuing people you know adds another layer to the intensity of the situation. The night of the earthquake we almost lost our lieutenant as well. It was only due to his incredible strength and bravery that we were able to get everyone out alive. That being said, working here is emotionally draining. There’s been so much loss. But when we find a survivor like we did this morning, it’s all worth it.

AC: Tell us a little bit about how you work with Coco.
DH: Coco and I have been together since she was eight weeks old. We work as a team. Coco has mastered both air and trail tracking, which makes her adaptable to a variety of scenarios. We’ve both gone through extensive training and certification, and I’m proud to say that even though Coco is only three years old, we’ve already achieved basic certification from the National USAR Response System. I couldn’t do what I do without her.

AC: How many people have you rescued so far here?
DH: All the teams are working together, and we don’t count our rescues, but I’d say I’m aware of around twenty.

AC: How long will you be here?
DH: I’m told it will be another couple of days. At that point, the operation will switch from search and rescue to recovery. Coco and I are not trained for that.

AC: I’ve heard that you and Coco are one of the top canine SAR teams in the nation. How often do you get called away from Seattle?
DH: At the Washington state level, we get called away once or twice a month. We also help out in nearby states when we can. At the national level, we get called out when FEMA determines that canine search teams are needed, although they typically start with available teams close to the area and then branch out from there.

AC: Speaking of Seattle, who’s waiting for you back home? Maybe one of your hunky firefighting colleagues?
DH: You know that expression: don’t get your nookie where you get your cookies? I live by it religiously.

AC: *laughs* Surely there’s someone.
DH: *looks away* Well, he’s not a firefighter. Far from it.

AC: I’m picturing a suit and tie. Am I getting warm?
DH: *fans self* A bit more than warm. *smiles* He’s not a firefighter, but he can really fill out a suit. That’s all I’m saying!

AC: *grins* Okay, I get it. I’m done grilling you. Thank you, Ms. Harris, for your courage, bravery, and selfless dedication. The people of Texas owe you their gratitude.
DH: I’m honored to serve however I can.

Danielle (Dani) Harris

Two polar opposites—she’s kinky, he’s uptight—discover they share a taboo desire that may destroy both their futures.
Firefighter Dani Harris has always wanted a family, but doesn’t think it’s possible because of her demanding, high-stakes career. Her sex life is as high-adrenaline as her job, and that’s just one more thing that makes her unsuitable to be a wife and mother. Her secret kink—exhibitionism—has gotten in the way of more than one relationship. Will she ever find a man who not only shares her wild fantasies, but loves her for them?
Burdened with ensuring the success of the struggling family business, William Caldwell IV needs a wife suited for a CEO—one with money and connections, who can manage his busy social life and raise their 2.5 children. He’s got everything all mapped out, but when he meets Dani, a woman who’s every kind of wrong, she taps into desires he’s only half-recognized and long-suppressed. Suddenly his carefully crafted five-year plan feels as confining as a straightjacket.
As Dani and Will’s sexual experimentation escalates, they test the limits of polite society by baring all and risking exposure—an exposure that could cost them their reputations and careers.

Short blurb:
When firefighter Dani Harris meets William Caldwell IV, sparks fly even though they’re polar opposites. She’s fiery, sexually adventurous, and takes no prisoners; he’s a tiger in the boardroom, but his tie is just a little too tight outside of it. Dani’s wild ways and exhibitionist side shake up William’s buttoned-up world and ignite his secret fantasies—but threaten to derail his five-year plan for becoming CEO. Can she loosen him up so they can find a middle ground? Or will his ideas about who he needs to be torpedo their sizzling attraction?

Peep Show Excerpt (18+)

A spotlight snapped on, bathing her in a harsh white light. Perched on a low wooden chair, she took in the small round platform beneath it, and the dozen shuttered openings surrounding her. Each was no more than a couple square feet in size and close enough for her to touch if she stretched out her arm. A pulsing beat filled the space and her body.
A man’s low, smooth voice broke in. “Begin.”
Begin what? Where was she? That’s when she noticed her clothes. Or rather her lack of them. A black corset laced up her abdomen and tied between her breasts, and sheer boy shorts barely hid her important bits. Garters tied to the corset held up silky thigh-highs. All things considered, it was a pretty sexy get-up, though far more modest than what she usually wore when she went to her favorite fetish parties. Is that where she was now? At a sex club?
When the platform began to rotate, she shifted and her foot hit something on the floor. Beside the chair was a basket full of toys. Sex toys.
One of the shuttered windows slowly slid open. In the near darkness, she could make out the broad-shouldered shape of a man.
Not toys. Props.
This was a peepshow. And she was the star attraction.
Her nails dug into her thighs as she tried to figure out if she was awake or asleep. Was she dreaming? If so, her subconscious was a right bitch to play with her fantasies like this.
The music cut out again. “Is there a problem, princess?”
That voice. It sounded so familiar, but not. She swallowed and shook her head. Since she was here, she might as well enjoy herself.
The platform had gone a full circle and she was once again facing the open square. With her eyes on the shape within, she raised one leg, pointing her toes in the ridiculously high heels, before sweeping her leg to the side and giving the man—customer?—an unobstructed view of her lace-covered pussy. The stranger’s eyes on her sent heat between her legs, and the delicious sensations had her gritting her teeth to hold back her moans.
The shutter of a window behind her slid up. She brought her foot to the floor and leaned back to smile at the newcomer. Make that newcomers. Based on the outlines she could see, there were at least two people in that booth. Hopefully, they’d enjoyed the flash of cleavage she’d given them.
The man’s voice filled the small room yet again. “Start stripping. We want to see more of you.” This time the smoothness of his tone was gone, replaced with something rougher. Lust.
Her belly clenched with excitement and arousal. She looked around, then up. Where was he? He had to be watching her, but from where? A booth? If he was, he’d better grab his hat—or better yet, his cock—because she planned on giving him the show of a lifetime.

Today, I'd like to welcome the wonderful Linda Nightingale to For Whom The Books Toll. Linda also brought Morgan from Sinner's Opera and he's agreed to answer some questions. Thanks Linda and Morgan for being here today. So let's get started, shall we?

Linda: What is your greatest temptation?
Morgan: In women: All of them! I love women to a fault. I am a vampire and women fire all my senses. Now, I am trying to be a good boy and focus my attentions on my beloved Isabeau and not finding it the challenge one of my kind would have expected.
In food: Blood straight up, no ice.
In clothes: The wardrobe of my profession is the tuxedo. At my country estate in Devon, I relax into tweeds and sweaters or riding gear. I’m an avid horseman.

Linda: What is your greatest weakness (example: buying shoes)?
Morgan: Women are my greatest weakness…and necessarily blood. I might add that I am enchanted with the Andalusian (Spanish) and Lusitano (Portuguese) breeds. They are fairytale horses.

Linda: If you could have any kind of car, what would it be?
Morgan: I have the car I would drive, an Aston Martin Vanquish—black on black convertible—but I miss the candy apple red Jaguar XKE that drowned in Charleston’s Cooper River.

Linda: Drowned?
Morgan: (Sheepish grin with a hint of fangs) You’ll have to read the book. As an aside, Julianne, I’m trusting you with a glimpse of my true appearance. I am not glamoured, a vampire trick, so you can see my fangs and my elliptical pupils. Are you afraid?
Julianne: (Looks at Linda, then turns head to look at Morgan) Umm, no not really. I'm more excited than afraid.

Linda: Your dream home - mountains or ocean?
Morgan:  Both. I quite like Asheville, NC for mountains but my ancestral estate, Royal Oak, in Devonshire, England overlooks the ocean that batters its towers.

Linda: Who is your favorite historical figure?
Morgan:  Me!!!  No, seriously, my friend and king, Charles II, whom I followed into exile after the English Civil War when usurper robbed England.

Linda: Your story?
Morgan: Our story belongs to Isabeau and me:
Morgan Gabriel D'Arcy is a classical pianist, and English lord and a vampire. He has everything except what he desires most--a woman he has loved from the day she was born--Isabeau.
For centuries, he has cherished a dream--a race of immortal crossbreeds possessing vampire strength and human morals. Ambition is not his most important motivation. Love is. When Isabeau, his chosen bride, was a child, he appeared to her as an angel and watched over her. As the Angel Gabriel predicted, Isabeau is now a billiant geneticist. She has come of age, and Morgan is determined to marry her. However, many forces oppose them, not the least of which is Vampyre law. The Vampyre are viral mutations produced by a blood-borne pathogen that alters human DNA. Mating between human and Vampyre is prohibited. The offspring--DarkeChildren--inherit a dangerous gene that drives them insane at puberty.

An enemy from Morgan's distant past is stalking him. Paul d'Alembert seeks eye-for-an-eye justice, intending to kill Isabeau as once Morgan killed his beloved. In fact, his enemies are rapidly closing in on them. Will Morgan have time and an opportunity to make his dream come true--to sire a child on Isabeau? Will he outsmart his enemires, protect her and escape death himself? For the first time in eternity, the clock is ticking.

I supposed I should mention Lucien here. As the High Councilor of Les Elus, the council that rules the Vampyre, Lucien St. Albans is the most powerful vampire in the world. He is my oldest friend but soon may become my worst enemy.

Excerpt:

For almost four hundred years, I’ve witnessed miracles of technology and the political wars that reshaped the world's destiny. I’ve seen much to hate and a great deal worthy of forgiveness. I was born May 29, 1632, the only son of the Earl of St. Averil and his Lady Ilsabeth de Gueraint D’Arcy. He died at the Battle of Naseby fighting with Charles I. My mother died alone in 1685. By that time, an unnaturally long youth had forced me to fake my own death for the first time. I watched from afar, unable to attend her funeral.
Yesterday, I was a celebrated pianist. I learned my art on the harpsichord from an Austrian genius named Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Later, I studied with Liszt, Ravel and Debussy. From the Duke of Newcastle then the Frenchman de la Gueriniere, I learned classical horsemanship.
Tonight, I am a wanted man. Mortal justice would hang me for a crime I did not commit. My brethren wish to destroy me for a crime I committed with willful intent.
It all began in December, a brief six months ago. Actually, my saga began in 1659 before the restoration of Charles II, but that’s another story...
This is our story—Isabeau’s and mine—our Folie a deux.

Anything you'd like to ask a vampire? Keep in mind that he is beautiful but a svelte and deadly predator.

Author Bio:
In high school, my favorite teacher allowed me write stories instead of book reports. Like other teenagers, I wrote dark, soul-searching poetry. When I showed my literary jewels to someone in the Editorial Department of the local newspaper, the erudite critic shattered my dreams and put my writing career on hold for over twenty years. In the interim, I bred, showed and trained Andalusion horses. My magnificent stallion Bonito was twice national champion and countless classes. I have two beautiful sons. I visited Costa Rica, Norway and lived in England, Canada, Miami, Houston, and my native South Carolina. I've seen a lot of this country from the windshield of a Dodge Ram truck towing my horse trailer.

I'm a legal assistant, own a baby grand that plays itself since I can't play or read a note. I'm a Capricorn, drive a snappy Z3 in Sterling Gray. I flew to PA to buy the Z, then took a magical journey through the mountains of TN and NC, later chased the calendar back to TX. I enjoy competing in rallies, attending car shows and other events.

Author Wednesdays--Kristin Daniels

It's time to welcome this week's guest author to Author Wednesdays at For Whom The Books Toll. The amazing Kristin Daniels is here and will be giving one lucky commenter an e-book copy of My Tye or any e-book from her backlist. Thank you Kristin for taking time out of your busy schedule for our interview!

Bio:

I've always been a reader of romance, but it wasn’t until I discovered the erotic romance genre that I finally figured out what had been missing from all the books I'd read before. The heat, the passion, that was it! My love of reading (any genre, any format...really just anything) led to taking a chance on writing something of my own, and I've been hooked ever since. I call the suburbs of Chicago home, where I live with my own special hero, along with our three great kids.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Oh, boy. Well, let’s see. I’m a wife, a mom, a daughter and a writer. I speak two languages—English and Sarcasm. I’m a breast cancer warrior, and—big shock—I love spicy romance novels, a little red wine now and then, and dark dark chocolate!

Share 5 fun facts about yourself.
Hmmm. How about two? I’m related to both Daniel Boone and Pocahontas, and I once received an all-expense paid trip to LA from Ellen DeGeneres to see her show (along with a couple hundred other people, but still!).
(Wow, so interesting about Daniel Boone and Pocahontas. I bet the Ellen show was fun.)

What was your ideal career when you were a child?
It sounds kind of simple, but when I was a kid all I wanted to be was a mom. I’ve raised 3 great kids (do you ever really stop “raising” them, though?), so I was lucky in that I was able to do exactly what I’d dreamed about as a kid.

Tell us about a typical writing day for you.
Typically, when I’m in full-throttle writing mode, I’ll write all afternoon. The mornings are for hitting the gym, answering emails, and hopping on social media and the like. I’ll write straight through the afternoon until my husband comes home in the evening, and then my computer is off for the night to spend time with my family. Repeat the next day :)

On average, how long does it take you to write a book?
My first books were novellas, so I’d say anywhere from three weeks to a few months for those. But my first full-length novel, My Tye, took me two years to write. Granted, I was undergoing breast cancer treatments at the time, so it took me a lot longer to finish. The next book I have coming out, Sunset Tryst, took me eight months to write, but I was still going through some treatments and surgeries while I worked on it.

How long does it take to write sex scenes?
Hmm, that varies. I think a lot depends on the mechanics of the scene. A quickie is faster to write than, say, a long ménage scene where you have to make it very clear who is where and what body part is, um, doing what and to whom. Sigh. Have I mentioned how much I love my job?

Where do you find writing inspiration?
Everywhere. I like to play the “what if” game a lot. What if that guy walking down the street did this? What if the woman standing on her front porch did that? And what if, whoa, they did it together? It’s fun to create like that.

Do you have a favorite writing snack?
I’m not much of a snacker, really. But I have been known to have a candy bowl in my office with some pretzel M&M’s in it!

Do you have any writing rituals?
Not really. Sometimes I write with music on low. Sometimes I have to have silence to work. Mostly I work in my office, but sometimes I like to sit outside if it’s nice. Everything just kind of depends on my mood at the time.

Where’s your favorite place to write?
In the office my husband built for me. We took the two-story foyer in our house, added a ceiling to it (which became a floor on the upper level), cut a door in one of our bedroom walls, and wha-la. I have my own writing nook. There’s pictures on my Facebook page. I love the space, and it means so much to me because my husband built it by himself, and he built it just for me.

What’s the best way to get over writer’s block?
I’m a firm believer that if you’re truly “blocked”, then it means you’ve taken a wrong turn somewhere in your story. If I feel that way, I always go back and take a long, hard look at what I’ve written to figure out where I’ve gone askew. Once I figure that out and fix it, then it’s easier for me to move on.

What’s your biggest writing achievement? Why?
Recently, My Tye spent a couple weeks on a bestseller list. That was so thrilling for me because I love knowing that readers liked the book enough to keep it on that list for so long.

How do you celebrate a new book?
Several different ways. My husband and I will sometimes go to our favorite restaurant to celebrate. Although, my daughter and I have spent a release day shopping on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, and that was a lot of fun, too.

Can you tell us about your current book?
My latest is My Tye, which is out now in e-book through Ellora’s Cave. It’s about a super sexy cowboy Sheriff who is also a Dom. Hot hot hot! It’s coming out in print exclusively at EC’s RomantiCon, then it’ll release to the rest of the world on October 24th.
I also have a sizzling ménage coming out soon with EC, too. Sunset Tryst takes place along the hot and sandy shores of The Emerald Coast. Sun, surf and sex—with a little dangerous surprise thrown in, too.

What do you think makes a good story?
Emotion. I have to be emotionally invested in a story. You make me feel what the character is feeling, and you’ve got me hooked.

What’s the hardest thing about writing and how do you handle it?
It can be a little hard for me to start a new project. I handle it by 1) Giving myself time to get to know the new story, and then 2) Forcing myself to plant my ass in my chair to get some sort of work done on it, whether it be actual words on the page or by writing my ideas down in a journal. I’m currently on Step 2 for a new story. Being that it’s summer, it’s been doubly hard for me to behave and get to work.

If you could bring one of your characters to life, which one would it be and why?
I love all my characters, but if I had to chose one, I really think I’d love to have Tye Carter from My Tye come to life. I’ve often pictured him with his Stetson pulled down low over his eyes, walking toward me with a sexy swagger in his step. He’d take me on a little tour of his ranch, then we’d hang out on his front porch chatting about small-town life—along with some, um, other stuff. Sounds heavenly, right?

If you could travel in a time machine, would you go back to the past or to the future?
Oooh, that’s a toughy. I’ve always been a sci-fi fan, so I think my answer has to be the future. I just want to see if there really will be flying cars, or, better yet, if there will be robots who will come clean my house from top to bottom every day.
(I have the Jetson's theme song running through my head now. LOL!  A Rosie robot for everyone, heck yeah!)

What does your family and friends think about your writing erotic romances?
My husband and kids (all adults now) love it. My kids have often been asked if they read my books, and they promptly respond with “No way!”, but they love that their mom does something so out of the norm. I’ve always taught my kids that they can do whatever they put their mind to, and I think I’m proof of that.

How important is reader feedback, good or bad, to you?
I love reader feedback! I’m very lucky to have readers who have enjoyed my books. The feedback I’ve gotten has been awesome and keeps me motivated.

What’s the best advice you can give to an inspiring author?
Never stop. Never stop writing. Never stop submitting. Never let anyone get you down. Just keep going, no matter what.

How do you relax?
I head out to my RV – my home away from home. I go out there alone during the week a lot, and then my husband will meet me out there on the weekends. It’s my little sanctuary, and one of the few places where I can truly decompress.

What is your favorite all time book?
For the last several years, my favorite go-to book has been The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. There’s something about the time-travel aspect along with the great romantic element of the book that speaks to me. It also has one of the most satisfying and heart-wrenching endings of any book I’ve ever read.

Fun Questions

Pepsi or Coke?
On the rare occasions when I indulge, I’m a Coke girl.
Chips or pretzels?
Chips!
Chocolate or vanilla?
Chocolate, baby!
Mountains or beach?
Oh, I’m a beach kind of girl!
Favorite color?
Varies. I love red, but I also have a lot of black in my wardrobe. My office is painted a deep purple though. Guess it depends on my mood.
Favorite ice cream?
Currently, it’s Ben & Jerry’s Fro-You Phish Food. Yummy!
Casual or dress up?
I love to dress up! The higher the heels, the better :)
Early bird or night owl?
Night owl, all the way. I’m not a morning person.
Cook outs or restaurant dinners?
Hmmm. I love both. I love to cook, but my hubby does all the grilling. I love to eat out at restaurants, too, but we don’t do it all that often. We like to control our own ingredients by doing most of our cooking at home.

The erotic dreams she’s had lately starring to-die-for rock star Shane Tolan are almost enough to make her forget how badly she wants to design his next CD cover. Almost, but not quite.

And now here he is in the flesh, ready to chase after her.

Shane likes to play dirty and he finally has Eden right where he wants her—outside on a balcony, tied to a chaise lounge and under his complete control. But he soon discovers it’s not just Eden’s body he wants, but the talented, business-savvy artist, too. Hell, he wants every luscious part of her.

Then paparazzi’s naked photos from that night show up on the internet, Eden is convinced her peers will believe she slept with the rock star just to design his CD cover. Shane knows nothing’s further from the truth. And in order to prove it to her, he’s going to have to show her his heart.

Blurb:
Ali Philips never thought anything could be more devastating than the day Levi and Tucker Corbin, her two best friends--her only friends--moved away. Three years passed without a single phone call, text message, or email from them and she's resolved to the fact that she will probably never see them again. Until one morning when she comes face-to-face with Levi Corbin in physics class.

Little does she know, the Corbins have returned to Haldeen with only one thing on their minds: winning Ali's heart. Ali soon finds herself in the middle of a love triangle she doesn't want any part of. As she tries to reclaim the friendships she's lost and to adjust to the unfamiliar feelings she's having, she struggles with making the one decision that will forever change their lives: Levi or Tucker Corbin?

She's always had a special bond with Tucker and feels most comfortable when she's with him. But Levi brings her to life in a way she didn't think was possible and makes her feel things she didn't think she would ever feel. Torn between the two, Ali is certain of only one thing--by the time it's over, she'll lose one of her best friends.

Excerpt:
The bell rang and Al was out of the room in a flash. Jimmie Allen and Brody tried to talke to me, but I ignored them and followed Al. It took me a moment to find her in the crowded hallway, but when I did, I didn't waste any time going to her. She was standing at her locker.
I cautiously approached her. "Got a minute?"
She slammed her locker closed and walked in the opposite direction.
"Al!" I chased after her.
She spun around and faced me. "I'm sorry, do I know you?"
Ouch, that was harsh. "I guess I deserved that."
"Oh, you deserve a heck of a lot more than that, Levi," she said angrily.
"I know I do. Look, Al, I'm real sorry. Can you please let me explain?"
"I've been waiting three years. This had best be good." She clutched her books to her chest and tapped her foot impatiently.
I took a deep, shaky breath. "Dad wouldn't let us visit. He said he didn't want to worry about cleaning up after our trouble making ways."
"And you Momma wouldn't let you use the phone? Or did you just forget how?"
Had she always been this feisty? "I have no excuse for that." I shoved my hands in the pockets of my jeans and stared at the ground. "I'm sorry, Al."
"And what's Tucker's excuse?"
"He doesn't have one either."
"I gotta get to class." She turned her back on me again and proceeded to walk away.
"Ali."
She stopped cold and just stood there, her head down and her back still to me. I'd never called her Ali before. Had I crossed the line?

Bio:
Born and raised in the small town of Mexico, New York, Kara was an only child who was forced to find ways to entertain herself. Playing make believe with her Barbie dolls and stuffed animals was her first real taste of storytelling before she became old enough to develop a love affair with the written word.

In early 2010, Kara picked up her very first erotic romance novel, and she was instantly hooked. She loves to write contemporary romance, erotica, and young adult romance. Currently she has several full-length novels in the works, a series of novellas, and a handful of short stories. Kara is an active member of the CNY Writers Haven, the Romance Writers of America, and the CNY Romance Writers. Today, Kara resides in New Haven, New York with her husband, five kids and three cats. When she's not reading or writing, she's thinking about reading and writing. And when she's not doing that, she's spending time with her family and friends.
