When rakish Ned falls in with the wrong crowd, his brother decides to send him to the Continent for “seasoning”. For Sophia, this just won’t do. She’s loved Ned for ages—and also longed for adventure. She runs away from her boring suitors and disguises herself as a cabin boy on the Defiant, the ship sailing Ned to Italy.

Ned knows he’s not good enough for Sophia, but once they’re on the Defiant, he can’t stop himself from touching her, tasting her, loving her. Not when a wild tempest and a band of ruthless pirates threaten them. Not when every look from her gives him such pleasure. And certainly not when she comes, warm and wild and willing, to his bed.

If they survive their voyage, Sophia’s brother might kill him, but it will have been worth every moment and every hot, sweet kiss.

Unique excerpt for For Whom The Books Toll only:

Stiffening her spine, she led the way to the sitting room and tugged on the bell pull. When Duncan appeared she gave the order for tea and cakes—Ned loved cakes—and asked him to inform Ewan his brother-in-law was here to see him. “Won’t you sit?” She gestured to the divan.

Ned appeared torn. His gaze flicked from the divan to her and back again. His lips worked. But then he blew out a defeated sigh and perched on the very edge, so he could escape quickly, one would assume.

Sophia glared at him.

When he noticed, which took a while as he was avoiding her eyes, he flinched.

“Am I so hideous?” She shouldn’t have asked. Lord help her, she should have held her tongue. She was bad at holding her tongue. But a roiling anger in her gut forced the words up and out.

Oh, of a certainty, she’d made a fool of herself over him during her first season. Granted, he’d led her on—and then rebuffed her—but that was all long ago. She’d learned her lesson. He should be beyond it by now as well. They were both much older and wiser.

He went pale as her question registered. “H-hideous?” His throat worked.

She leaped to her feet and paced the room. “For God’s sake, Ned. Our siblings are married. We have to see each other on occasion. Can you not, at least, be civil?”

“I am perfectly civil.”

She gored him with a glare. “Are you?”

“I most certainly am.”

Her snort rounded the room.

“What do you want from me, Sophia?” The words seemed ripped from him, torn in a bloody mass, but when she glanced at him, his face was emotionless, cold.

“A smile, now and again, would be nice.”

He fixed his teeth in a grimace.

“A real smile.”

“Hell, Soph—”

A scratch at the door heralded Duncan with the tea tray. He looked rather absurd, that great mountain of a man—the once-criminal who now served as her brother’s butler—carrying the delicate silver tray with its shivering cups and accoutrements. He set it on the table and bowed before quitting the room. Sophia couldn’t help but notice the glare he sent to Ned—or Ned’s responding wince. She also noticed Duncan did not close the door.

What a farce.

As though Ned needed a warning to behave himself with her.

She could have the plague as far as he was concerned.

She retook her seat across from him and poured the tea, though she really should have rebelled against decorum and made him pour his own. It was a nonsensical rule that ladies had to pour. Men had fingers.

Without asking, she added his sugars and milk. Four years of preparing his tea had clued her in to his preferences. He took the cup and downed it, glancing around as though seeking reprieve.

“Honestly, Ned.” It was hopeless.

Ridiculous in fact. Ewan wanted to marry her to a prince for pity sake. Even if Ned were interested in her, he had little to recommend him but good family. His brother was a duke, but Ned was hardly in line for the title since Edward had his heir. And a spare.

Aside from that, Ned was a rebel. A rakehell. Or so her brother averred when he was in his cups. According to Ewan, Ned slept his days away and spent his nights in a wild bacchanal of women, wine and song.

Likely he had all manner of fascinating adventures.

It was hardly fair.

She shoved the plate of cakes at him and he took two.

Unfair that, as well.

As a lady on the market, she’d been advised to forego cakes as they had an unfortunate tendency to collect around her middle, and if she wanted to catch a husband—

Oh bollocks.

InkSlinger Presents~T.A. Foster's Fire Spell Blog Tour & Giveaway!

Welcome to my stop on T. A. Foster's Fire Spell Blog Tour & Giveaway presented by InkSlinger PR.

Music has always been a central part of my writing, and working on Fire Spell was no different. I really love this playlist.

Fire Spell is the third book in the Ivy Grace Spell Series. In order to capture some of the feeling I had in the first two books, I added in some of the songs I used to write Time Spell and Cover Spell. Ivy has her own music with Jack, which is different than the songs I associate with her Finn scenes. This playlist has a little bit of “older” music mixed in with some new additions.

Ivy has to sort through her history with Finn. Songs like “Don’t You Remember” by Adele and “Give Me Love” by Ed Sheeran capture the emotions she goes through trying to work out where they stand in each other’s lives. I also listened to more romantic songs such as, “All of Me” by John Legend when I wanted to instill happier love feelings.

I hope you enjoy the music and imagining which songs play along in certain scenes!

T.A. is sharing her playlist here:  https://embed.spotify.com/?uri=spotify:user:fostert7:playlist:6DHuK2EtT6LZ79z2FHkOHi

Blurb:

Ever since her trip to New Orleans, Ivy Grace’s life just hasn’t been the same. Her magic is stronger, her stories more popular than ever, but something is missing.

After she opens a forgotten inheritance from her grandmother, she learns the key to who she is and who should have her heart is in Charleston. She travels to the romantic city in search of answers, only this time everything she cherishes is at stake. Can Ivy’s Time Spell answer all her questions or will it bring her and her family closer to danger?

In a race against time Ivy does all she can to rid the world of the darkest evil and save the men she loves.

Excerpt:

She was light as a feather as he lifted her buttocks. Her legs tightened around his waist, squeezing tighter and tighter around as he released one hand to retrieve his keys from the hoodie pocket. They barely made it through the small rusted gate of his bungalow house in Neartown before they clasped together like desperate magnets.

“Just give me a sec,” he grumbled, though not taking his mouth away. His teeth clashed against hers, but she kept kissing him.

Finally, he’d gotten the door opened, and didn’t take much time to shut the door and whisk her through the small living room, eighty-year-old hardwood creaking beneath his feet. His breathing echoed between his ears, his cock hardening with each exhale. Mona gyrated against him, he moaned out. “I’m gonna fuck your pussy raw. Do you understand me, Ramona?” He meant it in the most non-brutish way possible.

She yelped, catching his gaze, her mouthing parting from desire. “You already did that.” Her voice was husky, deeper than he’d heard it before.

He chuckled, pulling his mouth away. “That was nothing. You may not be able to walk tomorrow.” Her eyes widened. “I’m just warning you.”

“Then you’ll have to tell Tom why I didn’t show up for training.”

“I’ll be more than happy to tell Tom of all the ways I fucked his student so hard she couldn’t get out of bed.”

She laughed. “I’m sure that will go over well.”

He grunted. Tom. Tom probably wanted to fuck Mona himself. Ivan didn’t like that thought. Crossing over into his bedroom, he stopped at the doorjamb. “You ready for me?”

“Just shut up and give it to me.”

“I’ll be the one giving orders here, lady. And you’ll answer my question or I’ll let you go.” He still had to let her know who was in control, especially when he thought it wasn’t him.

“I’ll fall!”

He knew what it was like to fall. The longer he held her, the more he fell. How could he remain in control, when she could so easily take it from him? “Then I’d answer if I was you.”

She bit on her bottom lip, swollen from kissing him. His eyes lingered there until she answered with the slightest smile emerging. “I’ve never been more ready for anything in my whole life.”

His heart stilled merely by the look in her eyes. Every puff of air emptied from his lungs with her eyes. She wanted him—needed him even. Her pupils screamed it. Her body screamed it as she tightened around him, and he could feel her pounding heart through the apex of her thighs.

“I’ve never wanted anything more.” The words just came out.

But instead of pulling away from his revelation, she grabbed the back of his head and crashed her mouth to his, tongue leading the way. He took that tongue with his teeth, taking her in as deep as her opened mouth would allow. Hungry for her, he shifted in the room just to slam her back against the wall. A picture frame hanging haphazardly for years fell to the hardwood, breaking in pieces. Like him. She was breaking him of the hurt, of the rejection, from many years.

Finding the bottom of her scrunched up skirt, he pushed over the panties—he’d tear them in half before he was done with her. Her moisture spilled over to the crease of her thighs. Moaning, he strummed her pussy. She was wet, and he didn’t want anything more than to slide his bare cock inside her. Fuck, I can’t put it in without a condom again. But he did. Somehow, he’d managed to release himself from sweatpants and jammed himself inside her so deep their hip bones touched.

“Ivan!” she screamed. How she could take him in like that was impressive. He knew he was a lot to take in one shot. And when he plunged inside her again, she said, “I think you’re touching my spleen.” Her eyes rolled back in time to miss the smile he gifted her.

“Can you take it, baby?” Baby? He stilled for the briefest moment but didn’t stop.

Immediately, her eyes opened and grabbed his. Her mouth parted as he continued to slide inside of her, pushing through her tightening womb. She moaned, and he thought he’d come right then and there. The way she looked at him as he was inside her, challenged his ability to last. Kept challenging it until she spoke with a breathy whisper. “I can take you, baby. I can take you all the way.”

He wanted to go wherever that was.

Roe Valentine was born into the right family. Not only does the name Valentine suit her, but her grandmother, unknowingly, introduced the young Ms. Valentine to her first romance novel. She hasn’t read anything else since. She calls herself a romantic at heart and believes that love conquerors all.

The San Antonio native, who now lives in Houston, attempted to write her first contemporary romance novel when she was nineteen years old. That attempt didn’t take, but her story has a happy ending. She kept pursuing the dream until she landed her first publishing contract in 2013.

When not busy writing or reading love stories, Roe can often be found in a yoga class or chatting with friends at her favorite coffee shop. Enjoying margaritas with some girl-talk isn’t unusual for her either. For a night in, she watches reruns of her favorite TV shows and, of course, romantic comedies on her Roku, usually with a glass of wine.

BLURB:
Seared by a bigamous love cheat, London designer Deborah Tremaine backs off sex. But when charismatic Serbian, Zoran Pavlović, who wants to demolish an art deco cinema she’s campaigning to save, crosses her path she’s up for a fling.

Zoran has clawed his way out of Serbia’s turbulent past but believes his background means he won’t find happiness simply because he can’t trust a woman to cherish him for who he is — a Serb. But he’s a hot-blooded Slav up for no-strings sex and Deborah sends him into overdrive.

Deborah’s finances are in meltdown when a customer goes bust. Zoran dangles a business deal based in Belgrade,
Serbia that she can’t refuse. She’s confident the job won’t compromise the campaign and decides that Zoran is the guy who can jump-start her love life.

They embark on a sizzling affair but tension, erotically sexual and work related, skyrockets. Incidents trigger the revelation of their personal demons. Can they escape the black holes?

Excerpt:
Ko je ta zena? “Who is that woman?” Zoran Pavlović trained his binoculars on the pigeon-haunted roof of the derelict cinema, his eyes zoning in on the endless blue-jeaned legs, the wind-blown auburn hair, the high, full breasts jutting against the thin fabric of her sherbet-lemon T-shirt. She was primetime. A hardening heat coiled through his groin.

“That’s Deborah Tremaine, sir, the interior designer who’s spearheading the campaign.” His aide sweated nervously in the summer sunshine. “I think we ought to…”

“I think,” Zoran said and dealt him a trenchant glance, “you should leave the thinking to me. I want you to stay here and monitor this lunatic fringe.”

Nice view, Zoran muttered as he assessed his options for handling her. She was brandishing a crimson flag emblazoned with the purple slogan Save Our Heritage Now! having scaled the ladder hauled into place by her supporters. Singing “We Will Overcome,” they’d blockaded the bulldozers and charmed the guard dogs into shadows with choice chunks of meat.

Zoran sprang from the Land Rover, a powerful body in black— denims, T-shirt, trainers—and cut a swift path over the rubble. Tipped off that activists planned to stage a long sit-in, they’d already spiked redevelopment for months—months that left him seriously out of pocket. It couldn’t go on, it wouldn’t go on. Action was imperative—action that would be characterized as friendly persuasion in his native Serbia, although possibly something quite else in England—but he’d ride out the storm. He’d ridden out worse.

“Quite the warrior princess, Boadicea,” he murmured as, storming the treads, he scaled the parapet with spider-like agility. He flicked her a cool, controlled gaze, his belly knotting as he registered the luminosity of her skin, the scent of lavender shampoo in the shining cloud of hair, eyes of lapis blue, a soft mouth that promised so much.

“I’m Zoran Pavlović. We haven’t met before…”

Their eyes swerved together and held, and suddenly Deborah’s heart was drumming with the most primitive sexual charge. She felt like melting ice, lost and floating in a warm flood. As the sensuous amber-richness of his cologne infused her senses, a wave of entrapment clutched her and she inched away. “I’m sure I’d remember if we had.”

She’d tracked him as he sharked across. The strong sunlight highlighted the glossy, cropped, raven-black hair, restless energy exuding from the long-limbed body, the T-shirt taut against wide shoulders. The polished skin with its hint of olive. She knew he owned the site and was once mauled by the media for his predatory style but now played them like a Stradivarius violin with his promise to deliver jobs and homes.

“Welcome aboard,” she added caustically. “So what’s on offer?” She tilted her head speculatively and lifted her chin. The dangling, animist-style earrings from central Africa clinked softly, the antique beaten silver contrasting with the sudden, bright color in her creamy skin as his glance stripped her naked. God, this wasn’t supposed to happen. She was a foolish, reckless nineteen-year-old again, easily aroused and prone to coup de foudre.

He was well armed for the fight. “We’ll talk when you’re down.”

I spent my childhood in India, qualified as a Lawyer in England and joined a large London firm.

Romance is hardwired into my DNA so my novels include a strong romantic theme. However, I broke out of the romance bubble with one (you’ll see which one when you visit the Books page), which is a quirky departure in style and content.

I've also authored several short stories that feature on my blog http://www.serenafairfax.com/serena_fairfax_author_blog/.

Fast forward to a sabbatical from the day job when I traded in bricks and mortar for a houseboat which, for a hardened land lubber like me, turned out to be a big adventure.

Apart from writing and reading (all kinds of books), a few of my favourite things are collecting old masks, singing (in the rain) and exploring off the beaten track.

I'm a member of the Romantic Novelists Association, which is a very supportive organisation. My golden retriever, Inspector Morse, who can't wait to unleash his own Facebook page, and I divide our time between London and rural Kent. (Charles Dickens said: Kent, sir. Everybody knows Kent. InkSlinger Presents~A. Meredith Walters' Lead Me Not Release Day Blast!

Welcome to For Whom The Books Toll. Today I'm hosting A. Meredith Walters' Lead Me Not Release Day Blitz presented by InkSlinger PR.

Blurb:
In this dangerously sexy novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Find You in the Dark, a straight-laced college student meets a handsome but enigmatic stranger who lures her into an underground club scene, where she finds it difficult to resist temptation

Aubrey Duncan understands loss. She knows what rock bottom looks like, and she is determined to crawl back up to the top after the sudden death of her younger sister. She blames herself for her part in the tragedy, convinced that she could have done something, anything, to help her.

In her effort to gain redemption, Aubrey starts fresh at Longwood University and facilitates an addiction support group, hoping she can support someone else in the way she failed her sister. But what she doesn’t count on is an all-consuming fascination with group member Maxx Demelo, a gorgeous, blond, blue-eyed enigma who hides dark secrets behind a carefully constructed mask. He only reveals what he wants others to see. But Aubrey glimpses another Maxx hidden below the surface—a Maxx who is drowning in his own personal hell.

As Aubrey and Maxx develop an attraction too intense to ignore, he pulls her into the dark underbelly of the city club scene, where she is torn by her desire to save him and an inexplicable urge to join him in his downward spiral. Worst of all, she is beginning to love everything she should run away from—a man who threatens to ignite in her a fire that could burn her alive…

I stared harder at the picture, uncomfortable with the odd sense of familiarity I felt. Looking at the woman's graceful yet agonized form, I felt as though I should recognize her.

Bothered by my increasing disquiet, I stood up and walked closer. This was not your typical campus painting of daffodils and laughing students. I had seen this particular kind of art several times before. I leaned in to try to see the details in the poor lighting. And there it was- the tiny patterns on the woman's dress composed of dozens of Xs.

I didn't notice any numbers or words in this picture, though, so I didn't understand what its intent was. It was my understanding that X's paintings held the clues to the location of the club, Compulsion. But this picture seemed to have nothing to do with that.

This was a painting created for some other purpose.

"So what do you think?"

I looked over my shoulder to find Maxx standing behind me. I turned back to the picture, not bothering to answer him. The truth was, my outburst in the group had left me feeling raw and vulnerable, and seeing him so soon after making a gigantic ass of myself was embarrassing.

As he came up beside me, the sleeves of our jackets brushed against each other. Maxx inclined his head toward the painting and asked me again, "Well, what do you think of it?"

I shrugged, not really in the mood for small talk. My pounding head couldn't handle a go-around with the group Romeo. I started to walk away from him when he grabbed hold of my arm.

"Wait, Aubrey. Please." It was that word that did it. Please. It was uttered softly and sincerely. And it held me as fast and surely as if he had put his arms around me.

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | iTunes | IndieBound | Others via Entangled

About OPPOSITION: Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came. She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all. Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal. They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind. War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

EXCERPT: Katy
I still stared at Daemon, completely aware that everyone else except him was watching me. Closely. But why wouldn’t he look at me? A razor-sharp panic clawed at my insides. No. Thiscouldn’t be happening. No way. My body was moving before I even knew what I was doing. From the corner of my eye, I saw Dee shake her head and one of the Luxen males step forward, but I was propelled by an inherent need to prove that my worst fears were not coming true. After all, he’d healed me, but then I thought of what Dee had said, of how Dee had behaved with me. What if Daemon was like her? Turned into something so foreign and cold? He would’ve healed me just to make sure he was okay. I still didn’t stop. Please, I thought over and over again. Please. Please. Please. On shaky legs, I crossed the long room, and even thoughDaemon hadn’t seemed to even acknowledge my existence, I walked right up to him, my hands trembling as I placed them on his chest. “Daemon?” I whispered, voice thick. His head whipped around, and he was suddenly staring down at me. Our gazes collided once more, and for a second I saw something so raw, so painful in those beautiful eyes. And then his large hands wrapped around my upper arms. The contact seared through the shirt I wore, branding my skin, and I thought—I expected—that he would pull me against him, that he would embrace me, and even though nothing would be all right, it would be better. Daemon’s hands spasmed around my arms, and I sucked in an unsteady breath. His eyes flashed an intense green as he physically lifted me away from him, setting me back down a good foot back. I stared at him, something deep in my chest cracking. “Daemon?” He said nothing as he let go, one finger at a time, it seemed, and his hands slid off my arms. He stepped back, returning his attention to the man behind the desk. “So . . . awkward,” murmured the redhead, smirking. I was rooted to the spot in which I stood, the sting of rejection burning through my skin, shredding my insides like I was nothing more than papier-mâché. “I think someone was expecting more of a reunion,” the Luxen male behind the desk said, his voice ringing with amusement. “What do you think, Daemon?” One shoulder rose in a negligent shrug. “I don’t think anything.” My mouth opened, but there were no words. His voice, his tone, wasn’t like his sister’s, but like it had been when we first met. He used to speak to me with barely leashed annoyance, where a thin veil of tolerance dripped from every word. The rift in my chest deepened. For the hundredth time since the Luxen arrived, SergeantDasher’s warning came back to me. What side would Daemon and his family stand on? A shudder worked its way down my spine. I wrapped my arms around myself, unable to truly process what had just happened. “And you?” the man asked. When no one answered, he tried again. “Katy?” I was forced to look at him, and I wanted to shrink back from his stare. “What?” I was beyond caring that my voice broke on that one word. The man smiled as he walked around the desk. My gaze flickered over to Daemon as he shifted, drawing the attention of the beautiful redhead. “Were you expecting a more personal greeting?” he asked. “Perhaps something more intimate?” I had no idea how to answer. I felt like I’d fallen into the rabbit hole, and warnings were firing off left and right. Something primal inside me recognized that I was surrounded by predators.

Don't miss the books that started it all...
