Xpresso Presents- Dee DeTarsio's All My Restless Life to Live Book Blitz!!

Welcome to For Whom The Books Toll. Today I'm hosting Dee DeTarsio's All My Restless Life to Live Book Blitz presented by Xpresso Book Tours.

Announcing New eReader: The Fondle!
by Dee DeTarsio
I lost my ego along with the placenta of my first-born, making writing a natural career choice. More than seven hundred rejections, three agents, and close-but-no-cigar publishers toying with my affections, I perversevered. (I know that’s not a real word, but it should be.) Full disclosure: while I am not making enough to pay for Lululemon writing pants, I could probably spring for a pair of LuluLychees. (I would buy those.)

So why can’t I write erotica? I have tried, but it’s hard. (Get it?) I sat in front of my laptop for such an embarrassing amount of time, nothing came. Har har. I really wish I could write those spicy scenes. *Whip crack.* I hear it pays well. While every writer shares intimacy, some just have better vocabularies, imaginations, and experiences than others (and I’m not calling anybody s-to-the-lutty, here.)

I like titillating stuff as much as the next girl. If I write it, though, it makes me squirm, and not in the good way. I am no femme fatale. My bra and underwear don’t match. I’m more Vicks than vixen.

I get why guys like boobs, I really do. I get why girls like hunks with pecs that you want to squeeze like Charmin. But try as I might, under my throbbing fingertips (get it, I’m typing?) never the twain shall meet. Surely, I have other skills, right? I know what you’re thinking. What’s not going on in her boudoir? Hey, now. The man of my dreams and I have our bedtime story all worked out: four times a week, after Game of Thrones, twice on birthdays, anniversaries, when in hotel rooms, San Diego Charger’s victories, full moons, and first days of school; yes on phone sex, doesn’t everyone? and of course, I love giving blow jobs. We are such a passionate couple, n’est-ce pas?

So, I got to thinking. All books deserve a happy ending. (Wink.) Let’s just cut out the middle man and demand that technology gets on its giddyup to produce a vibrating eRotica eReader. Siri suggests we call it
the Fondle. I’d tap that app! (You know Jane Jetson had one!)

You’re welcome!
Dee DeTarsio lives in southern California. Her new novel, All My Restless Life to Live, is not yet available on the Fondle.

Blurb:
Award-winning author Dee DeTarsio combines life’s darker side with humor and tenderness in a wonderfully charming look at love and the afterlife.

Life is a soap opera, especially for Elle Miller, who is a TV producer. (Ellen dropped the “n” in her name in hopes of finding a better ending for herself.) When her laptop crashes, she borrows her dead dad’s computer and gets way more than she bargained for.

As Elle tries to save her career with a storyline featuring a trip through Atlantis, she takes a trip to the Emmys, and finds herself in the middle of a romance between a real doctor and a hunk who just plays one on TV. Friends, family, and clues from “the other side” all help Elle figure out the difference between living the good life . . .  and living a good life.

Vicks or Vixen?  In defense of PJs
by Dee DeTarsio

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the rayon will not creep.
I mix it up before powering down,
But look more like a circus clown.
In case of emergency,
(If neighbors, police or firemen might see,)
I cover up, but comfortably.
In my head I’m a femme fatale,
That lying mirror tells a different tale.
Victoria may have a secret, but I have one too.
I look like I killed someone, or escaped from the zoo.

What do you sleep in?
A. Slinky, sexy lingerie.
B. Shunned-by-the-dust-rag yoga pants.

If you answered A, thank you. That is all. You aced the quiz, no need to keep reading. The rest of us:
A. Wish we were you. Go you. Seriously, just go.
B. Don’t believe you.

This edition of Vicks or Vixen is brought to you by It’s time to buy a new pair of pajamas—ones that don’t wrinkle, creep, make you sweat or look like a man; smell good, wash well, and fit perfectly. Seriously. What do you sleep in? And what do all those popular authors out there write in? The One & Only Emily Giffin, I’m talking to you. I bet she has a peignoir, a word I can barely spell.

I don’t know about you, but I’m fascinated by what people wear to the land of Nod. T-shirts? Leggings? Flannel nightgowns? Half of our life is spent in this hidden wardrobe, seen only by those special (lucky?) few. How can we not honor this important costume?

I’ve tried Victoria’s Secret–though I’m apparently fifteen years, ten pounds and two cup sizes out of their demographics. I was watching a movie with my family, and I had on a two-piece number. There may have been fuchsia trim. Someone actually hummed a circus ditty, “doo doo doo doo do do doo do do do,” like I was balancing on a unicycle in the center ring, honking my nose while chasing down an ice cream cart. Not the look I was going for.

How hard is it to invent cute pajamas? Ones that don’t wrinkle, creep, make you sweat or look like a man; smell good, wash well, and fit perfectly. (I am ashamed of how much I love polka dots—what is it about their dangerous lure?) When the bra comes off, the brain and body power down, according to research at IMTU (I Made That Up). We deserve special garb for this most sacred time. Hey garment industry, the world would be a much better place if you could design pajamas that make us look like Jennifer Anniston starring in a romantic comedy. Thank you.

*Music rises with a swell.* One day, there will be sweet, sweet PJs . . . soft, smooth, comfortable, alluring, am-muy-bien snoozewear, in which we can answer the door, wear to check the mail, and even drop kids off at school without having to fill out a journal entry for their future therapist. A girl can dream.

Anybody? Please tell us about your favorite jammies!

SLIGHTLY STEAMY EXCERPT

She changed into a tank top and threadbare shorts before slipping into her desk chair. I’ll just check my school email, ten minutes tops. She was lying to herself, bargaining with the devil. I will not open his profile. I will not send him a message. Making that fake profile for herself last month had seemed like such a good idea at two o’clock in the morning, after a few beers with Jessa and a few agonizing hours of watching Tayber hook up with some random girl at The Brick. She just wanted to know what she was missing. In graphic detail. Sasha let her find out. Except it had only made her wanting worse, and it was such a wrong thing to do. So she’d stopped. At least a dozen times.
But nothing stopped him from messaging her. There it was, blinking away. She should ignore it. Delete, delete, delete. It wasn’t even for her. Not really. It was for Sasha. And she’d sworn she’d never be Sasha again.
Tay: Hey
How could three tiny letters be so suggestive? She could hear him in her head. He’d say it kind of soft, but forceful, like the whole universe of his carnal experience could be contained in one word. She pictured him hunched over his laptop, shaggy hair eclipsing his face, shirtless, bare feet hanging off the end of his extra-long bed.
She had to answer. She wanted him any way she could have him.
Sasha: Hey yourself.
Tay: Why am I always happy to see you?
Sasha: Because I’m awesome like that?
Tay: You are. I’m looking at your picture right now. So beautiful.
Not me. She’d sent him a picture of her cousin, on spring break in Cabo three years ago, filling out her bikini and pulling a duck face for the camera.
Sasha: Not really
Tay: Inside and out
Sasha: Laying it on thick tonight?
Tay: I can’t stop thinking about you.
It was torture. The ninth level of Hell. Everything she’d ever wanted him to say was there on the screen, except it wasn’t really for her.
Tay: I wish I could touch you.
And she was burning, flaming. If he were saying these things in person, she’d disintegrate. She tugged on her tank top, pulling the thin cotton away from her itchy skin.
Tay: Is that okay?
She was practically molting, slipping right out of her skin on the spot. This disastrous attraction might kill her. She squeezed her thighs together and shifted in her seat.
Sasha: I want to touch you too.
Tay: Skype?
Sasha: Can’t, still no webcam.
Shit. This was going to be the end of it, again. Who didn’t have a webcam? She held her breath, waiting for the little indicator to flash that he was answering. A full minute. He was probably frustrated, pulling that mop of hair out of his face now, tugging it into a tiny ponytail. A minute and a half. He’d lost interest. Any second now his light would go out.
Tay: Too bad
She exhaled, a rush of relief that left her giddy.
Sasha: Sorry
Tay: Don’t you want to see me?
Sasha: More than anything
Tay: I want to see my hands on you.
Was he touching himself now? She traced a figure eight over the soft skin below her navel, chasing the flutter building there. She’d never be able to tell him the truth, and this was never going to be enough.
Sasha: You’re touching me now
Tay: Where?
Sasha: My belly
Tay: Lower. I’m touching you lower. I’ve got my fingers between your legs and you’re so wet for me.

"I’ve only ever been able to express myself physically. I never ventured into anything beyond that. I didn’t want to get emotionally involved. I was all about concentrating on the game and using women as an escape. But when I got injured, I started looking at things differently and what was going to happen to me when I couldn’t play anymore. For the first time in my life, I was terrified. Sure, I succeeded on the field, but I was a failure when it came to dealing with my personal life. But you know what? I needed a wake-up call like that. It’s what led me to you.”

Excerpt
“I’m just not the dating type. You know that. I don’t like trying guys on like they’re pairs of shoes, searching for the one that fits. I get too emotionally involved. And you know all they want is sex, so when I don’t put out by the third date, they don’t tend to stick around.”

I shrug, but it hurts to have to explain this to her. I mean, isn’t it obvious? I’ve always been overly sensitive. I really have to get to know a guy before I’ll even consider sleeping with him, and the truth of the matter is, not many are willing to wait around until I’m ready. They’re on to the next piece of ass that doesn’t have so many issues. All they want is a quick fuck, and they get all bent out of shape when I don’t put out. I can’t help it if my stupid heart always gets in the way.

“But, Grey, you told me you won’t even give a guy some head. So what do you expect? That’s what dating’s all about. Give and take. He takes you to dinner. You give him a blow job.”

“It just makes me feel cheap.” I rub my arms, crossing them in front of me, shivering even though it’s ninety degrees. I really wish we weren’t having this conversation right now. The pervy old man standing behind us is hanging on our every word. “How can a guy I’m seeing not know what my favorite movie is or how I take my coffee but be cool with me doing stuff like that to him? Sorry if I don’t like feeling like an object instead of a person. I’d rather get to know someone before going there. That’s all.”

“Girl, you gotta learn to keep it casual. Don’t make it so complicated. Just let go. You’re so uptight. It scares me. Use some stupid prick to make you feel good, if only for the night. He doesn’t have to be Chase Whitfield. Any hot guy will do. Just close your eyes and—”

Collette West grew up as somewhat of a jock-nerd hybrid. Entering the world three weeks premature, her dad nearly missed her birth because he had seats behind the dugout for a sold-out, highly-anticipated match-up between two of baseball's biggest rivals. Not to be outdone, her book-loving mom taught her how to read by the time she was three. A love of the game coupled with an appreciation for the written word were instilled in Collette's impressionable brain from a young age. No wonder her characters believe in the philosophy: sports + romance = a little slice of heaven.

Splitting her time between the Pocono Mountains and Manhattan, Collette indulges her inner fangirl by going to as many games as she can from hockey to baseball and downloading every sports romance novel in existence onto her iPad. When she's not clicking away on her laptop, she enjoys walking her dog in Central Park, satisfying her caffeine craving at the Starbucks on Broadway and keeping an eye out for Mr. Right. But above all, she loves dishing with her readers. Email her at collette_west@yahoo.com.

My home is on the beautiful island of Anglesey on the west coast of North Wales with my family. I am extremely close to all my family members and enjoy spending time with them. I am the proud mother of two grown up *children* My daughter Emma is a primary school teacher and my son Christopher is part of the family business. Anglesey has been my home since the age of eleven after moving here with my mum and dad and three sisters from Scotland.
Where it all began....

As a young child I loved to write. I always carried a notebook and pen around with me and wrote about everything. It was a dream to become a published author. However sometimes in life our dreams get pushed to one side as mine did. So, dare I say at the young age of fifty I think it is time for me to see if those dreams are everything I hoped they would be...and hey it's never too late to go and grab that dream!

I have been through many major changes in my working life ranging from a Diana nurse, running my own skin care business, helping with the family run bus company and even hairdressing but my heart as always belonged to putting words on paper and making them come to life.

Recently I managed to get in contact with my best friend from Scotland who I hadn't seen for over forty years. She lives in America and every year without fail I make the trip over to North Carolina and visit with her and her gorgeous family. This is where I have gained a lot of inspiration for many of my stories.

I am lucky that my mum and two sisters live close by and I can say that we are all best friends. I lost my dad  four years ago and if it wasn't for the story I wrote after his death where I came second in a competition I probably wouldn't have started writing with a view to publication.

I have taken my maiden name as my author’s name in memory of my dad…This is for you dad God bless you.

I am living my lifelong dream of becoming an author something which I never imagined happening. If I had to give any advice to an un-published author it would be 'Never give up the dream' because I never did..

Title: Perfectly Broken
Author: Prescott Lane
Publication date: March 2014
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Goodreads

Blurb:
Even after years of trauma therapy, Peyton still believes she’s broken.  She has little desire to date or show off her natural beauty, content simply to hang out with her best friends and run her pie shop in New Orleans.  But her world turns upside-down when a handsome architect and self-confessed player shows up in her shop and thinks she’s perfect, much more than the usual hook-up.  While Peyton does her best to resist his charms, believing she could never be enough for him, she can’t deny the obvious heat between them.

With Reed determined to have her, Peyton must decide whether to continue to hide behind her apron and baggy clothes or take a chance and share her scars with Reed, a man with a playboy reputation and scars of his own — a dark past he can’t possibly share with Peyton, not after learning the horrors she’s endured.  But if they can find a way to trust each other, and themselves, they just might be able to heal, to save each other, to live perfectly broken together.

Excerpt:
Reed woke up in a sweat, breathing heavily, as if from a bad dream.  But it hadn’t been bad at all.  He’d been dancing with Peyton in Audubon Park, feeling her soft skin, tasting her lips, smelling the vanilla.  He cursed the dream was over then looked outside, the moon shining brightly through his bedroom window.  He thought about calling her and reached for his phone.  He saw it was the middle of the night, so any call would have to wait.

Then he decided he wasn’t going to call her at all.  He’d be seeing her tonight at the engagement party -- for the first time in 36 days.  He flipped through the photos of her on his phone, landing on the one he loved the most, her resting her head on his chest, a small smile on her pink lips.  He’d give anything to go back to that moment, to have her in his arms again.  It seemed as if Griffin had held her more than he ever did.  He threw the covers over his head, trying to get back to sleep and desperate to return to his dream.

But thoughts of tonight, thoughts of Peyton, kept him awake.  Over several weeks, he’d tried to let her go but just couldn’t.  Despite all the boxing, all the exercise, trying to bury himself in work, he wasn’t strong enough.  He’d fallen in love – the first time ever – and now couldn’t recover.  She’d been his soft spot, and he’d hit concrete without her, shattering his heart.  He had no idea if she was as tortured, conflicted, unsettled as he was, or whether she’d just moved on without a second thought.  He hoped she felt like he did.  But she sure found a roommate pretty damn quick!  His talk with Quinn helped put some things in perspective, but he still didn’t trust Griffin living in Peyton’s house, just a few doors down from her bedroom.

His mind flashed to the possibility that she was bringing some guy tonight.  Griffin?  And he wasn’t going to ask Bret if he knew whether she was.  That would be pathetic and weak.  He needed to be calm and strong, though not too strong.  He couldn’t just wail on some new guy tonight, not even Griffin -- no matter what he saw, even if her lips, God forbid, touched Griffin’s or some other man’s.

He gripped his pillow tightly then threw the covers off his head, the moonlight hitting him again, shining down an unmistakable truth, one he already knew all too well.  He needed Peyton.  He needed her to love him.

Someone crude, a caricature of a mob boss? Jace is beautiful. Beautiful in the way a black panther is gorgeous, sexy, and absolutely dangerous. Even from here I can tell he radiates menace, a promise of violence, though he’s doing nothing more then sitting back in an armchair, one booted foot up on the table before him, half listening as a beautiful girl talks to him, lips to his ear.

He could be a model. His face is angular, his hair shaved down to a fine stubble, his cheekbones harsh, his lips soft. In the red light of the room I can see that he’s covered in tattoos, but they’re as beautiful as he is, radiating down his arms like Maori war paint, and as we walk closer I see more ink over his knuckles, and a words printed over his right pectoral muscle and disappearing under his shirt as if his chest were a page. I can’t help it - I want to know what words a man like this would emblazon on his flesh.

“Jace,” says Eric. His voice barely carries past the loud music. “Can we talk?”

Jace looks past Eric at me. I feel my stomach tighten into a ball and the hairs on the nape of my neck stand on end. Oh my god, why did he have to be so incredibly gorgeous? Why couldn’t he have looked like a thug, and made this easier? I try to remember that this man has had others killed, mangled, brutalized. That he’s a criminal, an amoral psychopath and he’s got Tommy in his sights. I try as hard as I can, and despite it all, I see amusement enter his eyes.

He gestures, and we step forward. A couple of guys vacate the seat to Jace’s left, and we sit, Eric closest. I lean in to hear.

“This is Tommy Ford’s sister,” says Eric. I restrain the ridiculous urge to give a little wave. “We’ve come to talk about the debt he owes you.

“We know he owes you big. You know he doesn’t have the money. Neither do we. We’ve come here to promise that we’ll take responsibility for raising it. We just need more time.”

Jace considers this, and then shakes his head. “Two weeks.” His voice is low, but I can hear it past the music. “That’s the deal.”

I see Eric’s jaw grow tight, and several men around us stir. Jace doesn’t move a muscle.

“You know he doesn’t have the money. Making an example of him won’t bring you the money any faster. If you give us a little more time, we’ll make sure you get paid.”

Jace shakes his head slowly, but now he’s looking at me. Openly. Something subtle changes in his features, and the amusement in his eyes grows dark.

“Or,” says Jace, “Jessie here can agree to pay the bill with a different coin.”

Different coin? Eric stiffens, anger flushing his face, and I try to understand. How else could I pay for seven hundred grand?

“Come on man. Quit joking around.” Eric’s voice shakes under the strain.

“I’m not joking.” Jace slides forward, sitting up, the movement smooth and powerful. “I’ll waive the seven hundred grand if she spreads her legs, right here, right now. What do you say, Jessie? You love your brother that much?”

I can’t speak. Revulsion floods through me, and I shake my head. “No,” I whisper. I don’t know if he can hear me. “I won’t do that.”

Jace smiles, and it’s a savage expression. “Of course, seven hundred grand is a lot of money. Just servicing me won’t cut it. But I’d say you’d cover the whole deal if you do every man in this room too.”

Eric’s grip on my hand is crushing. “Jessie,” he says, not taking his eyes off Jace. “Run.”
