Author Wednesdays--Welcomes Frances Stockton

Good Morning! This is Author Wednesday and I'd like to welcome the very talented Frances Stockton to For Whom The Books Toll. Yay Frances!! Take it away, Frances.

Hello everyone! Before I begin, I’d like to thank Julianne for the opportunity to be here today. I’m so excited and honored. Also, there’s a contest! Read on to find out how you can be eligible to win a gift card to Amazon, B&N or Ellora’s Cave, winner’s choice!

Now I’d like to introduce you to Trevor Hazard Osbourne, best known as Hazard to his family, friends and fans of the gridiron. Hazard has graciously agreed to take time out of his busy schedule to sit down and answer a few questions about himself, his love life and, of course, football.
We’re sitting at a table at Book Haven Diner in Salem, Massachusetts. Coffee is endless, and delicious, not to mention the gigantic cinnamon bun we’re sharing. I’m stuffed already and the interview has barely begun.
For his part, Hazard, wearing casual jeans, an Alexandria Griffins tee shirt and his long light brown hair swept back in a ponytail, looks more like a cowboy than a badass linebacker for the hugely popular team based in Alexandria, Virginia.
FS: Now that we’ve broken bread together, let me take a moment to thank you for agreeing to this interview.
H: No problem, real glad to spend time talking to you today.
FS: Tell my readers a little about you, a brief bio, if you will.
H: Sure. As you know, I’m a middle linebacker for the Alexandria Griffins, graduated from UNLV. I’m 34, still young enough to handle an opposing offense but old enough to use wits and brains over pure muscle.
FS: How did you get the name Hazard?
H: My mom. Hazard’s my middle name, her mother’s maiden name. Over time, more and more folks called me Hazard, especially during my college days and into the pros, as I was considered ‘Hazardous’ to the offense in the red zone.
FS: It’s obvious you’re at ease with the name.
H: Yeah, most people call me that, my girlfriend, Avery, included. Only person I can think of who doesn’t is my childhood best friend, Jaxon Wynter.
Leaning forward, I reach for my coffee mug, smiling when Hazard refills it from the carafe sitting between us. He’s a nice guy, not overly cocky, but very aware of who he is and what he does for a living, and that several patrons at the diner are looking over at us hoping for an autograph.
FS: Jaxon Wynter? Is he from New England or Virginia where the Griffins are based out of?
H: No, he’s in Nevada. I’m Nevadan born and raised. Jax and I own a club in Dare, a small town nestled in the valley and foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Honestly, he runs the business end. I’m more of an investor than anything. When I’m in town, my band performs.
FS: You’re a singer on top of being a star athlete? Sounds exciting, for that matter so does Dare, Nevada.
H: You’ll have to go there sometime. Avery can attest that it’s the right place to get away and feel safe knowing that whatever you do there remains there. Know what I mean?
FS: I think so, sort of like Vegas’ ‘What happens here stays here’ motto. Hazard simply nods and pushes my coffee mug toward me. Since its summer, what do you do for fun?
H: I like spending time with Avery, keep in touch with my business partner and friend Jax, workout to maintain the physical strength needed for football. I’m an avid country music fan and have hopes of putting my voice to work when I retire.
FS: Do you have a Facebook page, Twitter?
H: Both.
FS: I bet your followers and your friends are many.
H. You could say that.
FS: Do you post your own statuses.
H: Sure. When football season’s underway, maybe not as often, but I try to sign in once a day or a couple times a week to say hi. Fans are what make playing football fun.
FS: It’s nice that you do that. You’ve mentioned Avery a couple of times now. I take it she’s your girlfriend and that your Facebook bio indicates you’re taken?
H: Yes, to all the above. His smile, which can light up a room, becomes secretive, his unusual amber eyes glow. His affection for Avery is obvious.
FS: Sounds as if she’s important to you. Would you care to share a little? I don’t want to pry too much.
H: Avery Grant, her name’s Avery Grant, daughter of former US Senator Charles Grant, sister to my agent Alexander Grant. She’s a physical therapist for Dr. Ryan Hathaway, a sports medicine and orthopedic surgeon in Danvers, MA.
FS: How did you meet?
H: I took a dare.
FS: Pardon?
H: Maybe I should start at the beginning, keep in mind, I can’t tell you everything, but I can tell you how we met.
FS: Please do.
H: I had a week off and went to Dare, was singing up on stage and there she was, red dress, killer stilettos…

Now, you don’t think I’d give away Hazard and Avery’s red hot love story that easily, do you? To find out what happened after Hazard spies Avery in her sexy red dress, here’s a snippet from Hazard’s Dare, Ellora’s Cave Moderne.

"What do you say, gorgeous? Are you ready to give up waiting for a stranger and take a chance on Mr. Nice Guy?"
John had just gone from weirdo to asshole in Avery's book. "I say that I'm not interested," Avery told him, shifting around to look him in the eye.
"Come on, how about a dance? Let me at least buy you a drink."
"That's not necessary," she said, right as a giant shadow came up behind her.
John was about six foot even. Judging from the way he looked up, she'd say her rescuer was about six-five or six-six, big, broad and a total badass.
She knew exactly who was behind her.
Her body had known seconds ago. Her pussy had unfurled like a spring flower beneath a ray of sunshine. He breasts felt heavier, her nipples tightened. The powerful draw of need deep in her belly was completely sexual.
"Someone giving you a hard time, baby?" Trevor Hazard Osbourne asked. Nestling in nice and close to her back, he drew her up off the barrel and parked his ass in her spot.
Before she could blink, she was sitting in Hazard's lap and John Mr.Not So Nice Guy disappeared from sight.
"Hazard," Avery whispered, shocked that he'd gone to such lengths to protect her and instantly aware of his steel-hard muscle and size.
Hazard was enormous, with not an ounce of fat.
"Good to see you again, Avery Grant," Hazard answered, his baritone whispering right into her ear. "Would you mind telling me why you're wearing a smoking-hot dress and killer shoes that make every man in this room wonder how your fantastic legs would feel wrapped around him?"
"Wearing a nice dress and new shoes isn't a crime, Mr. Osbourne."
"When it comes to you, it is."
"How do you figure? You're not my boss. In fact, it's quite a shock that you even remembered my name. We met once."
"I'm not likely to forget that you're my agent's prettier twin."
"Wow, at first I felt honored to know Hazard Osbourne saved me from trouble. But saying I look like my brother when we're not even twins won't get you laid as payment for your help, bonehead!"
Offended, she tried to scramble off his lap, but to do so would only cause damage to her daring dress. Hazard's unbreakable grip around her waist made her feel trim and slim and female.
Her C-cup breasts felt bigger, her nipples tighter and in a constant state of arousal. She was almost five-eight, regarded herself as reasonably attractive and average. Hazard made her feel as if she was so much more than average.
"Whoa there, don't get pissed at me and wiggle that find ass of yours like that unless you're prepared for trouble. I didn't save you in order to get laid and you don't look like a man. You look amazing, Avery.
"Thank you, I think."
"You're welcome. For the record, I know Alex is older. While the family resemblance between the two of you is uncanny, you are much prettier. Now answer the question. What kind of trouble were you hoping to find in Dare?"
"You want the truth?"
"We are in the Truth or Dare Club, baby, might as well go for broke."
Hazard's big hands tightened around her waist. Shifting her on his lap, he expelled a deep breath, as did Avery. For a heartbeat, she'd thought for sure the hardness she felt pressed up against her ass had been the biggest cock she'd ever known.
Not that she'd know many. Okay, that was an understatement. But her lack of lovers notwithstanding, she'd certainly seen her share of erotic images. None of the men had a penis that rivaled Hazard's.
Telling herself she was feeling his hard as hell thigh that just so happened to get thicker, Avery sat very still.
"I'm not sure you can handle the truth," she warned.
A big hand came up to her chin, turning her so that she could look at him without causing damage to her neck muscles or putting a strain on her back. "I can handle anything. The truth, Avery, what were you looking for when you came here?"
Caught up in his unusual amber eyes that reminded her of a lion's and imagining Michelangelo had a hand in sculpting his cheekbones, strong chin and chiseled features, she couldn't look away or take back her answer.
"I came to find a fuck buddy. Not forever, mind you, just a friend to have fun with whenever I'm able to go on vacation."
"Say that again," Hazard demanded, tightening his fingers on her chin ever so slightly.
"You heard me, a fuck buddy. That's what I want."
"Like hell you are," he grumbled as he clutched her tighter in order to stand up.
"Let go!"
Over her shoulder, he said, "Jaxon, my table. Biggest fucking glass of sweet tea you've got and whatever Avery's drinking, bring it there."
"Got it," Jaxon answered without missing a beat in his mixology.
With little ado, Hazard let her grab her purse from the bar and carefully propelled her across the room. Those who hadn't found a seat or table stepped aside, because the linebacker was the size of a freakin' mountain.
Claiming a table that had a fresh deck of cards and a couple of guitar picks sprawled across the well-worn surface that had nicks, dings and names of musicians inscribed in the oak, he finally guided her into a chair.
Despite their conversation and the fact when he stepped backward, he revealed an enormous erection tenting his faded button-fly jeans, Hazard claimed the seat opposite her.
Unsure what to say or do, Avery waited until Jaxon delivered their drinks and vacated the coziest spot in a very crowded room. She didn't think it wise to speak until Hazard gave her an opening.
He didn't. He grabbed up the tallest glass of iced tea she'd ever seen and took a long drink. At the rate he was taking the tea down, it'd be gone in three seconds.
"Slow down, Hazard. You'll make yourself ill."
Hazard glared at her and kept drinking until he was satisfied. Slamming the ice-frosted glass back down on the table, he broke the silence. "You're out of your fucking mind if you think I'm going to let Alexander Grant's sister come to town to find a fuck buddy."
"FYI, I'm more than his sister, I'm a woman, dammit! Maybe I'm tired of being the sensible Grant all the time. Maybe I'm ready for no-holds-barred sex. I'm on vacation. Why shouldn't I have fun?"
Hazard growled deep in his throat. Briefly, she thought for sure he'd roar as loud as any self-respecting lion warning rival mates away from his pride. "Sonofabitch, this isn't happening. No, I won't allow it."

Now, of course, there's a contest prize, a gift card of the winner's choice from Amazon, Ellora's Cave or B&N, for anyone who comments and answers the following question.
To answer the question, you'll need to read Hazard's interview. Question: What college did Hazard Osbourne play for?
Again, please answer right her on Julianne's blog, and be sure to leave an email address or contact information of your choice so that I can notify the winner. The contest will be open until Friday August 16, 2013. Don't miss it!
I'll visit throughout the day to answer questions or clarify anything.
Frances Stockton

Whew! Wasn't that a great excerpt? I hope everyone will check out Hazard's Dare and Frances' other books. Thank you, Frances for being a part of my Author Wednesdays!
Here's where you can find Frances:

Author Bio:
My love for storytelling began in kindergarten when I created my first fictional characters. Though I’d given them simple nicknames, I’d convinced my family that Red Henry and Green Henry were identical twin brothers in my elementary school.
They were mischievous, rarely did their homework, had trouble with math and spelling, experienced heartbreaking losses, and yes, they even had girlfriends!
It wasn’t until the Henry twins mysteriously moved to a different state that my family realized that they were entirely fictitious and my mother suggested I write the stories down.
A few years later, I began to write, completing my first manuscript at age thirteen.  I confess the heroine was a cross between Nancy Drew and a contemporary Laura Ingalls Wilder, who happened to be dating one of the Hardy Boys. But when I’d written ‘the end’ on the very last page, I’d known I had more stories to tell. Of course life intervened, but whether I was in high school, becoming part of a local theater and dance company, working as a Veterinary Technician, earning a degree in History and Secondary Education, or teaching, I was always writing and reading romances.
Finally, I met and married the love of my life and moved from Maryland to Massachusetts in 2001.  Shortly after, I proudly joined Romance Writers of America and the New England Chapter, and I’ve been writing faithfully ever since.  I invite you to explore my website, meet the Abcynians. I would love to hear from you.

I hope you'll stop by next week for Author Wednesday when Kristin Daniels will be here!!!!
