Excerpt:
“I never drink and you’re going to make me drink alone?”

A grin tugged at Terry’s lips at Brian’s sullen comment. “You need the fortification while I’ve had more than my fair share for one lifetime.”

Brian’s speech was already beginning to slow down. “It’s not right to leave a man hanging.”

“I have to drive you home and I don’t drink and drive.”

Brian slipped down an inch in his chair. Crossing his arms over his chest, he stared at Terry through his lashes. “I could stay here.” Although Terry doubted Brian’s proposition was intended the way he would’ve liked, it still caused his cock to lengthen. “It wouldn’t be the first time I slept in a chair.” That statement might have taken the bite out his arousal if Brian’s tone hadn’t gone sultry. Not to mention, his eyes darkened. Terry shifted in his seat to hide his erection. The expression on Brian’s face was hot as hell.

“I wouldn’t let you sleep in a chair.” He hoped Brian was now wondering where he would allow him to sleep. Of course, the answer was nowhere. If Brian stayed, neither of them would get any rest.

Brian tossed back another shot before straightening in his seat. “If I’m not staying then I’d better go home. I’d hate to pass out on you and like I said, I don’t drink often.”

With a nod, Terry stood. Brian attempted to follow suit but swayed on his feet. Racing forward, Terry caught him before he could hit the ground. The motion left them chest to chest. A nervous sounding chuckle vibrated from Brian. Terry could feel it against his skin. Their gazes met. The sound died.

“You’re very bossy,” Brian said, surprising a chuckle from Terry.

“You’re very drunk,” Terry countered.

Brian didn’t move away. Neither did Terry. “I’ll get over being drunk, you’ll always be bossy.”

“I have a feeling—if you remember any of this tomorrow—you’re going to be horrified.”

Brian was staring at his mouth. He shook his head. “Nope. I haven’t done anything to be embarrassed about...yet.”

Terry marveled over the way Brian’s eyes gave away his every emotion. They seemed to flash from light to dark brown and back again as he visibly struggled against his desire. Unable to keep from doing so, Terry gave him an extra shove. Using his voice against him, he allowed a hint of his growing lust to seep into his tone.

“Do you intend to?” With his gaze still locked on Terry’s mouth, Brian nodded. “Do it,” Terry taunted. The words barely passed his lips before Brian claimed his mouth. For Terry, it was like tossing gasoline on already raging bonfire. It was everything he’d fantasized it would be with an extra helping of expertise tossed into the mix. The way Brian’s tongue stroked the roof of his mouth before slipping away and reappearing again left Terry with no choice except to chase after it. The moment he thought he had him, Brian sank his teeth into Terry’s bottom lip, tugging gently. Terry gasped. He couldn’t remember a time he’d been this close to coming in his jeans, especially from nothing more than a kiss. At the sound, Brian turned his face away, resting his forehead on Terry’s shoulder. His shoulders heaved as he visibly struggled to catch his breath.

“The room is spinning.”

Terry clamped his back teeth together. His muscles seized tight as he attempted to control his lust. “That’s because the world tilted,” Terry said once he found his voice.

Murdina, a dark vampiric fey, hunts the Scottish Highlands for a man, but not for blood, Murdina wants love. She spots Cameron playing the bagpipes, and when a strong wind lifts his kilt, she takes a good look and decides he's the one. When Cameron meets a beautiful, mysterious woman who dances the Highland fling for him, his blood boils for her. Soon Murdina and Cameron are doing more than dancing. Wrapped in each other's arms, they discover true love, but their time together is limited before Murdina's fey sisters cross the portal to steal her back and probably kill him. Is their love strong enough to overcome the threat her sisters pose to Murdina's heart and to Cameron's life?

My Review:
Vampire Highland Fling is another quick sexy read when you don't have a lot of time. The story has a good plot and contains some Scottish mythology and it was fun to learn a little bit about it.

Murdina wants what her sister Sorcha found, love. She doesn't know what love feels like but she's willing to find out. Only able to underhill when the stones of the ancient cairn are disturbed, Murdina sneaks out without her sisters knowing.

After playing the bagpipes at a wedding, Cameron comes upon a beautiful woman who begins to dance as he plays for her. He's immediately enchanted by her graceful movements. Murdina is delighted that this man is so muscular and handsome. They are instantly attracted to each other and Murdina wants to stay with Cameron.
Murdina is determined and goes after what she wants, I liked that about her. Cameron is also very likable, immediately trying to think of a way he can support her. He was very unselfish in that respect. I wanted to see them be together so they could be happy.

I know Ms. Amiri doesn't have much influence on the art that goes on the cover, but this cover is somewhat misleading in that the story contains female and not male vampires. As a reader first and a reviewer second, it's really frustrating when the cover has nothing to do with the story. I still found Vampire Highland Fling a pleasant and enjoyable read.

One of Ian’s six brothers kicks over the stones of an ancient cairn, unknowingly freeing Sorcha and her six sisters from underhill. The seven handsome Scots are enchanted by the voluptuous temptresses until they turn on the men. Ian captures Sorcha, giving his brothers a chance to escape. With the dark fey woman still in his grasp, Ian is saved by the rising sun.

Her sisters vanish with the light of dawn and Sorcha is trapped in the mortal realm. The seductress can’t resist Ian’s attentions as he stirs throbbing urges she’s never felt before. Ian is bewitched by the wild delights offered by this vampire siren. He can’t get enough of her. Still, her wicked sisters and his highland brothers want nothing more than to attack and kill each other. Will Sorcha and Ian’s sizzling passion prove strong enough to overcome the differences between the dark fey and humans?

My Review:
Dance of the Vampires is an enjoyable short read with a unique spin on Vampires and Fey. The seven sisters are baobhan sith-dancing vampires. I really liked this concept. This is a modern story with strong ties to local legends. Since this is such a quick book, there isn't a lot of character development but there's enough to like the them.

Sorcha experiences emotions she's not used to when Ian traps her above ground. Ian is drawn to Sorcha and can't stop thinking about her. The chemistry between them is almost instant with a lot of sexual tension. The sex scenes are intense and sizzling hot. Dance of the Vampires is perfect for a steamy lunch time read.

I know there are other short stories in this series and I would like to see Ms. Amiri combine them into one or two novels and fill in a lot of the blanks to make an excellent series or books.

~~Author Wednesdays-Brenna Zinn~~

© Astine | Dreamstime Stock Photos & Stock Free Images

Please welcome my Author Wednesday guest, Brenna Zinn!!!!  Thank you for being her today Brenna and letting us know a little bit about Touched by Midas. Take it away, Brenna.

Want to be touched by a Navy SEAL?  Who doesn’t??

Last year I was a part of an award winning anthology – SEALs On Fire - with my book, Dagger’s Edge.  This year I have a sexy new release as a part of the SEALs Going Hot series with Desiree Holt, Cerise Deland and Samantha Cayto.  Touched by Midas, the story of a superstitious Navy SEAL and a woman trying to live a “normal” life away from her rock-and-roll family.

The story behind Touched by Midas
When our editor first asked the four of us to write another SEALs series, I decided I wanted to bring in as much authenticity to my story as possible.  Aside from actually having dated a Navy SEAL (which I haven't - sigh...), I did marry a Navy man and we spent the first three years of our marriage stationed at Naval Station Rota, Spain.  What readers read in Touched by Midas comes straight from my memories of living in Rota, working on the base and being with my huge military family.

You can purchase Touched by Midas by clicking on one of the following providers.

Touched by Midas
By Brenna Zinn

Blurb:
As a Navy SEAL, Michael “Midas” Baudine trains countless hours to prepare for combat. But a man can’t train for luck, so preserving his “Midas touch” good fortune is something he takes seriously, and he'll go to extreme measures to get his team on-board with his pre-mission, luck-assuring routines. He accepts a challenge from his team—get the sexy but uptight teacher, who blocks his advances at every turn, to the rock concert a week from today, and they’ll comply.
With a crazy rock star dad and top supermodel mom, Angie Summers was once a wild child but, wanting more out of life, has done her best to live under the radar of fame. She’s even assumed a secret identity and found a job teaching at Naval Station Rota, Spain. Her attempt at a “normal” life is quickly turned on its ear when a hot-as-hell Navy SEAL sweet talks her into a date she’ll never forget and may eventually regret.
While spending time with the muscle-bound sailor unleashes Angie’s need to let the wild child out to play, which could threaten her anonymity, Midas finds himself on the precipice of breaking the first rule of luck—never fall for a woman.

Excerpt:
How did nice girls survive? How did they resist the sexual magnetism of guys like Midas long enough to find the kind of man they could have a real relationship with? The seductive SEAL with the charming smile could make even a nun think twice about her vows, let alone a world-weary bitch trying to redeem herself.

“Sorry,” Angie heard herself say before the last of her restraint gave way. She turned and started walking, avoiding any further tax to her self-control.

“You think I’m not good enough for you?”

His question halted her foot mid-step. Of all the things he could have said, he’d found the one she couldn’t ignore. The one that suggested she was still the unkind woman of her youth. The girl who used people as much as they used her.

Biting a lip, she released a long sigh and made an about face.

“No. I don’t think you’re not good enough for me.”

“That’s easy enough to say, but harder to prove. Go out with me. Show me that your words are worth something.”

So many thoughts swirled through her mind. Some snarky and downright mean. Others a complete abdication to the power that was Midas. But before she could decide which one to toss out, the sailor threw down the gauntlet.

“I’ve got tickets to see Stereo Arsenal next week,” he said, coming closer. “Go with me. Be my date to what will probably be the show of the year on base.”

The mention of her father’s band broke the hold Midas had on her. No way she’d go and be recognized by one of the band members, roadies or fans. She’d already made arrangements for a few hours of private time with her parents while they were in Rota. That visit alone could compromise her identity.

“Sorry, buddy. No can do. I’m really not a fan of rock-and-roll.”

“Not a fan of rock and roll?” His eyebrows rose in mock surprise. “How is that even possible? Don’t you know that Stereo Arsenal is one of the best bands from the 80s? These guys sold more albums and had more top-ten hits than anyone else in their genre. They’re classic. Just scoring tickets for the show was a major coup.”

She couldn’t help the pride swelling her chest. Her father might be the leader of the madhouse, but he and the band had worked hard to rise to the top. They deserved every accolade they received.

“I don’t want to go to the concert by myself,” he persisted, increasing the wattage to his dazzling smile. “Prove your words are more than just sounds coming from those pretty lips.”

“Please.” She rolled her eyes. “There are dozens of beautiful women in Rota who would love to be your date. Maybe you should ask one of them.”

“You’re the only person I’m interested in. You have been for a while.”

What people are saying about Touched by Midas:
"I thoroughly enjoyed Touched by Midas; the very interesting characters, fun plot, and simmering sexuality made it one fantastic little novella!”  Slick, Guilty Pleasures

"Touched by Midas I have to say is now one of my favorite reads. All the components are there to tug at your heart for our military, for family and let’s not forget the hot scenes that you need a fan for."— Shey’s Book Cave

I remember reading about Texas in an Illinois grade school and thinking I probably would never see the great state where real cowboys ride their horses to work every day and everyone wears western hats and boots. Then again, I never dreamed I would elope in Gibraltar with a Navy man who hailed from the Lone Star state. But here I am, smack dab in the middle of Texas, still married to the same wonderful man and boasting not only the greatest daughter on the planet, but three dogs that are as big as long horns.

In between grade school and now, my journey through life has taken me all over the United States, as well as many places throughout the world. Using my travel experience as a guide and peppering in interesting characters I’ve met along the way, I love nothing better than weaving tales of romance and leaving readers yearning for adventures of their own.

At thirty-three, Warner Truman is one of the richest men on the planet, a spa mogul who buys and sells resorts at will. He holds powerful executives' careers in his well-groomed hands. Nothing is beyond Warner's reach...until he meets her.

Stunning, tantalizing and perverse, Taddy Brill captivates Warner's carnal desire like no woman he's ever met. A self-made millionaire, Taddy is tougher than steel, more brilliant than diamonds and, at twenty-seven, she's never depended on a man for anything...until she meets him.

The more Taddy plays with Warner's affections, driving him to erotic heights, the more she is confronted by a dark past. Before she can love him, Taddy must meet her worst fears head-on or risk losing it all, including herself.

My Review:
Unscrupulous is a real attention grabber! I was hooked by page 1. I loved the scene where Taddy, and her friends are in her office looking through windows of other high rise buildings close by with binoculars. I laughed so hard. I can actually imagining people doing that.

Warner is a little uptight after finding out his fiance was a gold digger and not who she said she was. Problem is, he can't get rid of her, she's still trying to latch onto her sugar daddy.

Taddy is a workaholic and a self-made millionaire. But Taddy's childhood was a very unhappy one and she still hasn't gotten over some of the things that happened to her. She has great friends that help her through the rough times.

The sexual tension between Warner and Taddy is terrific and builds throughout the story. I liked Warner and Taddy very much. Their characters were extremely well written and also seemed very real. The secondary characters were wonderful and added depth and dimension to the book. I loved the world Ms. Aster created for her characters.

This story has a lot of emotions and some surprises thrown in that make it a pleasure to read. There was just enough humor written in to make me laugh. I really enjoyed reading Unscrupulous.

~~Author Wednesdays-Jennifer Kacey!!!~~~~

© Astine | Dreamstime Stock Photos & Stock Free Images

Time sure does fly by anymore. It seems like it was just Author Wednesday. Today Jennifer Kacey is here! Welcome to For Whom The Books Toll Jennifer. Glad I could give you some new questions!

Hi everybody!!! I’m here to answer some questions I’ve honestly never been asked before. So…here goes!!!

Please share 5 fun facts about yourself that most people don't know?
1. I’m a cat person. Love their purr, and the way they clean themselves and how they play and I don’t have to take them outside in the middle of the night. Love them so much, and I have two. One at the house and one at my Bruce Wayne job. They both only answer to Kitty Kat.
2. I used to be a gymnast. Competed for 9 years and won state on vault eons ago. Still have the leotards to prove it, which I can still wear.
3. My feet are shrinking. I kid you not. I used to wear a 7.5 exclusively. Could shop anywhere. 7.5? Done. And now in the last couple years I’m wearing a 7 in almost everything but in really high shoes even a 6.5. That’s just funky.
4. Piercings – I love them, Most people know that. I have 10 of them. Most people don’t know that. I really love them!
5. I didn’t die my hair, ever, until I was…30 or 31. Not once. The people I’ve told that to look at me like I have two heads. Is that strange to any of you?

What’s your favorite music?
I listen to a lot of different music. Classical, techno, musicals, pop, jazz. Pretty much everything but rap or reggae. Just not my thing.

Do you have a favorite writing snack?
Twizzlers. I could eat one of those gigantic bags. Oh and they have to be the strawberry kind. Not the cherry kind. Ick!!

Do you have any writing rituals?
Must have ice cold water in my published author coffee mug. It was a present from my husband last Christmas! The mug, not the water! *grins*

Chips or pretzels?
PRETZELS all the way. I love them. Especially if I get to dip them in garden veggie dip. Yum.

Chocolate or vanilla?
Not vanilla. I write BDSM and I get to try a whole heck of a lot of what I write about. So vanilla and I? We broke up quite a few years ago.

Hope everyone learned something new about me! Want to read a little more about my newest release or any of my other dark and naughty tales? Keep going!!!
