her on a quest to try to find her Real Home. In Paris, she fell in
love with a fellow traveler who changed her life, for better or
worse. Their relationship was full of discovery and of lessons
learned.
How could she come to terms with her
"inner demon"? Can we change our fate or karma? Does love
really conquer all?

an independent woman's search for her true self and the meaning of
life, and how she found answers in unexpected places.
Let the journey begin...

Excerpt:
I
travel to cope with my inner demon. An inner demon that was revealed
to me when I was five years old.
As
I was sitting on a swing in my parents’ backyard, a strange thought
occurred to me out of nowhere.
“My
parents are not my parents. There has been a huge mistake and I am in
the wrong place, the wrong everything.”
I was so upset that I obsessed over this thought. I wondered if I had
been adopted at first, but realized it was not true. I looked too
much like them.
“My
guidebook doesn’t say it’s closed,” said Mike, “but it is.
Should we look around?”
“Might
as well,” said Lyn. We all got out of the car and cautiously
approached the building.
“Is
this a safe neighborhood?” I asked. I didn’t see anyone about. At
least the streetlights worked.
“It’s
supposed to be.” Mike opened the door slowly and peered inside. He
motioned for us to enter. It seemed to be in disrepair, but looked
like it hadn’t been closed for long. A few months at most.
I
tried the faucets in the bathroom and kitchen. No water and no
electricity. But it did look safe enough to stay in for one night. We
searched all the rooms for squatters, and found no one.
After the first few
nights in the building, we all knew it was haunted. There was soft
banging on windows, eerie and howling sounds from inside and outside,
and footsteps that always disappeared. We would check out the sounds
and never find anything. Some nights were worse than others. I
wondered if we shouldn’t move, but John didn’t think it was a
problem. We would get used to it. I didn’t think so, but my frugal
side won out. Money is a powerful motivator.
For
me, the haunted house caused tension and restlessness. My sleep was
interrupted by howling. I’d explore and come back to bed exhausted.
It bothered me more than the rest of the occupants. I would watch
John sleeping peacefully, with the moonlight shining across his face
and hair. He looked so peaceful that I didn’t want to wake him, so
I suffered in silence until the morning.
