InkSlinger Presents~ Allie Juliette Mousseau's True North Blog Tour & Giveaway!

Thank you for taking a look at my post on Allie Juliette Mousseau's True North Blog Tour & Giveaway presented by InkSlinger PR.

After a tragic accident that plays on an endless loop in her mind, wild child Kate Jolie died inside. She now functions only through her rigid, ironclad routine, which keeps her mind and soul in check – balancing her in a dangerously precarious position between life and death

Rocker and Master's student Sam North knows no limits and seeks out every challenge to conquer and defy. With his cocky grin, piercings, colorful tattoos, undress-you bedroom eyes and magnetic sex appeal, he has no trouble finding women to warm his bed. When he spies his new professor, the gorgeous Ms. Jolie, she’s just another summit he wants to climb in order to reach its peak. But as he begins to catch glimpses of her soul, she becomes his Everest.

Kate Jolie is the only woman who wants nothing to do with Sam North - and the only woman he can’t do without.

After my psychiatrist gave me the hellish goal list she said, “You can’t say no. These are my orders, and they cover all aspects of behavioral and cognitive therapy. You can move at your own pace; however, you must do one item on the list every two weeks, so you’ll have something to report back to me.”

My Master Goal List:
1. Wear the clothes you used to like
2. Go to three places you’ve never been before in Seattle
3. Get drunk
4. Dance in the rain
5. Go to a movie
6. Get laid
7. Confide in one person even a portion of your story
8. Walk on the sandy beach with no shoes
9. Play your favorite music
10. Ride in a car
11. Drive a car
12. Go after something you’ve always dreamed of … something you tucked away.

You must do one item on the list every two weeks, so you’ll have something to report back to me.

“You’re out of your mind, Headshrink,” I said bitterly.

“These are the actions of a normal twenty-six year old woman. You’ve been fighting for way too long to hide yourself and, in the meantime, have created a pseudo self you call ‘Catherine’ while you’ve buried your true self so far down you can’t see her anymore.”

I had read the psych books, I knew this was a recipe for getting one’s life back and putting trauma in the past as you moved on.

After the session, I made my way to Pier 57 in Waterfront Park, gripped the white railing and lifted my face to the sky. It was good that I was alone, because the silent cry had turned to violent sobs. I had learned to barely function with a damaged heart that still managed to beat somehow. Every moment of my life had become a song too sad to listen to and possessed by an agony I couldn’t truly face.

The ferry bell echoed across the waters, and I watched as the ferry inched past me into its port. I may have still been breathing, but I had committed suicide six years ago—the suicide of my soul. I had cut it away and wasn’t really sure I could get it back. Or if I even wanted it back. Isn’t that why I had put it to rest in the first place?

What brought me to this crossroads anyway? Was it time playing out the way it does, through the cosmos? Was it the words of my headshrink rattling around now in the empty hole left by my soul?

Or was it Sam’s smile?
